Alice Walker is an idiot(writing from the UK):

I am a supporter of Barack Obama because I believe he is the right person to lead the United States at this time. He offers a rare opportunity for the country and the world to do better. It is a deep sadness to me that many of my feminist white women friends cannot see him, cannot hear the fresh choices toward movement he offers. That they can believe that millions of Americans choose Obama over Clinton only because he is a man, and black, feels tragic to me.

When I have supported white people, it was because I thought them the best to do the job. If Obama were in any sense mediocre, he would be forgotten by now. He is, in fact, a remarkable human being, not perfect but humanly stunning, like King was and like Mandela is. He is the change America has been trying desperately and for centuries to hide, ignore, kill. The change it must have if we are to convince the rest of the world that we care about people other than our (white) selves.

Did this myopic black woman not witness the tsunami that hit South Asia a few years ago? Did she not witness millions of Americans (many of them white) donating millions-upon-millions of dollars, time, and energy to help the people (non-white) who were affected?

Does Walker really not understand the people of the United States are by far the most generous and caring people on this planet when it comes to helping the rest of this planet’s less fortunate peoples?

It’s not enough — she insists that the only way to care more is to elect a black man.

But Ms. Walker has an agenda:

I want a grown-up attitude to Cuba, for instance, a country and people I love. I want an end to the war immediately, and I want the soldiers to be encouraged to destroy their weapons and drive themselves out of Iraq. I want the Israeli government to be made accountable for its behaviour to the Palestinians, and I want the people of the US to cease acting as if they don’t understand what is going on. But most of all I want someone with the confidence to talk to anyone, “enemy” or “friend”, and this Obama has shown he can do.

Typically lefty bullshit — destroy the military, destroy Israel, submit to our enemies of Islam. That’s what she wants. And that’s why she backs Obama (oh, and because he’s black) — because they hold the same world view.

And for a woman who thinks that we should look past colour and race, she mentions her own race and color more times than I care to count in her diatribe….

She ends with this:

Even if Obama becomes president, our country is in such ruin it may be beyond his power to lead us to rehabilitation.

Another Lefty who just can’t won’t see the greatest that is our nation. Sad for her. Perhaps she should just stay in the UK.

OTHERS

Confederate Yankee:

I’ve rarely seen a feminist unashamedly prostrate herself in front of a politician as Walker has here, fawning over a very pretty man of very little substance like a blubbering schoolgirl, seeking to infuse in him qualities in which she so fervently desires, qualities that he so obviously lacks.

Right Wing Sparkle: “Walker sees this country in “ruin.” What is in ruin is Walker’s own view.”

Amused Cynic:

Alice Walker’s Magical Negro status is the reason every freakin’ schoolchild in America has had to read “The Color Purple” every February for the last 25 years. They supposedly help us poor benighted white folks recognize our own faults, and overcome them. We SHALL overcome our whiteness….Yes, We Can! WE are the change that we seek! If we will only vote for Obama, Magical Negroes the world over will be proud of us.

And of course, we can’t leave out Bloodthirsty Liberal:

With respect, Alice, go f**k yourself.

I don’t want to hide or kill Barack Obama, though I confess I do want to ignore him. But only because his “sweeping rhetoric” and “soaring vision” (or some combination thereof) bores the hell out of me.

To paraphrase Woody Allen, while your ancestors suffered as slaves or sharecroppers, mine were getting raped by Cossacks. So leave me the f**k alone.

When you refer to “America”, you don’t mean me at all, since I intend to vote Republican, and have so intended since Barack Obama was voting “present” day after day in the Illinois State Senate.

If for no other reason don’t vote for Obama otherwise we’ll be subject to another one of her awful poems on Inauguration Day. Seeing her and Rev. Flappy on the dais at the same time would be too much for my heart.

[Editor --- Which one is Rev. Flappy? Would that be Jeremiah Wright, Al Sharpton, or James Meeks?]

I read the Walker article this morning and was struck by the last line in her article, “We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.” I remembered Obama using that same phrase, cept he didn’t credit the author as Walker did. Nonetheless, another example of Obama using somebody else’s words and the obamamaniacs swooning over them. I hope this link to UTube works. I’m not computer saavy…sorry…but just listen to this speech and a few minutes into it you will hear what I’m talking about.

And, as far as Walker, she offended me on so many fronts I am sputtering.

I found it odd that she tried to say she wasn’t supporting Barack because he’s black and we should look past color, then went on an insane rant about supporting him because of his skin color and that he doesn’t carry the same white shame that Hillary does.

Women like Walker hate the country that she claims is so great (while bashing it as evil in the same breath), hates the military (she wants NO military at all, we can assume from this piece), she’s out of touch with nearly ALL of us. Does she HAVE to come “home”???

What a *GAG* piece that was.

Never heard of this woman before, and danged sad my lucky streak has been broken.

[Editor --- You've heard of her, probably just didn't remember her name. She wrote the novel "The Color of Purple".]

She boinked Tracy Chapman.

Oh, okay then. I saw the movie.

Uhh…who’s Tracy Chapman?

Got something you want to say?
