From the Houston Chronicle’s Top Photos for April 11, 2008:

I’m sure the responsible owner of this dog feels bad for the child that her pit bull tried to maul:

Nope. She feels bad for her dog, though.

I’m sure the first words out of Sharhonda’s mouth (Sharhonda? Seriously?) were something to the effect of “he’s the sweetest dog ever, he’s never hurt anybody before”.

With a thousand great breeds out there, I’m always just completely baffled as to why anybody would choose a pit bull. Then again, there seems to be a “type” of person who owns pit bulls.

I think it’s a little bit unfair to say that she feels no guilt or sympathy for the child just because she’s sad about losing her dog.

Pit Bulls, unfortunately, are one of a few breeds that can just turn aggressive for no good reason. Unwise as it may have been for her to keep the dog as a pet in a neighborhood with children, there’s no reason she shouldn’t be allowed to weep over the loss of a beloved pet, inappropriate as it may have been.

Your fear of black hats is showing again.

There’s actually a reason why they always say, “My dog is the sweetest dog in the world…” Pit bull owners have been studied.

Most of the owners also blame the victim. Just yesterday there was a terrible attack by 5 pit bulls in Chicago. The owner said:

“What was freaking them out was how she was behaving. She wouldn’t stop screaming.”

Note to self: Do not scream when being attacked by 5 pit bulls.

There is not a “type” of pit bull owner , I am a mother of four and I own two well balanced loving pit bulls and would not own another breed. They are the most loving loyal dogs you will ever own, and they need to have responsible owners. It is not their fault humans have breed them to fight, they are being punished for what WE have done.Because of what they have been bred to do they should always be leashed or well contained but there is no reason a pit cannopt be a part of any family.

Got something you want to say?
