The most corrupt, deplorable man in all of Congress (and that’s really saying something), John Murtha (D-PA) has chimed in Sen. John McCain’s age.

The 75-year old ex-Marine (not former Marine, but ex-Marine) Murtha said:

WASHINGTON - Democratic Rep. John Murtha said Wednesday that Republican Sen. John McCain is too old to be president. Murtha is 75, four years older than McCain. He says they are nearly the same age, and the rigors and stress of running the country is too much for guys their age.

“I’ve served with seven presidents,” Murtha told a union audience. “When they come in, they all make mistakes. They all get older.”

“This one guy running is about as old as me,” he said, drawing laughter and applause. “Let me tell you something, it’s no old man’s job.”

Well, it’s obviously proved too much for Murtha. If he truly believes this, then why doesn’t he resign? And why doesn’t he try to persuade dithering and senile old farts like 90-year old Sen. Robert Byrd (D-WV) and 76-year old Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA) to retire with him?

Psst! Check your second paragraph.

[Editor --- Oops. Thanks for the catch. Fixed to reflect that Murtha is 75 and not 71.]

He’s one Sorry Murtha!

Um- is it ok to mention that Murtha is not in fact running for President?

And yet Congress has an equal responsibility in running our country.

Considering that three Congressional seats are currently not even occupied it seems that the Republic can survive an ineffectual Congressman. I doubt that the same is true of the Executive Branch- though the theory has been tested.

You’re right Preston, we did survive eight years without our executive branch being manned, from 92-00.

Got something you want to say?
