When, as General Patraeus has done twice now, a military officer sworn to uphold the constitution stands before Congress and substitutes doublespeak and circular logic for accountability, and goes on to advocate the political platform of the Republican Party, then he is worthy of neither the honor nor the respect of those who he is sworn to defend and would be expected to resign his commission in saner times

You are so full of crap.

You sound like one of those partisan fools I have to deal with at cocktail parties.

They come up to me and say, "Tell me what your husband thinks about the situation in Iraq?"

And I say, "ask him - he's right over there". They never do. They are afraid. And they press me. And eventually, because they irritate the living crap out of me, I will (with the appropriate caveats) tell them what I think he thinks.

They hate it.

Because it doesn't comport with what they read in the NY Times. Well, tough sh*t. He spent a whole year over there. The NYT isn't over there, are they? But they don't listen to anything that conflicts with they preconceived notions. They only want to hear things that confirm their biases. Why ask if you've already made up your mind? This is why I don't want to talk to them. I am not seeking to convince them. I know they are prejudiced. It's a foregone conclusion. Hopeless.

But I humor them, and they go away angry because I gave them exactly what they asked for: the truth.

We are indeed fortunate to have men like Cassandra's husband serving this great nation.

As for General Petraeus and his testimony to Congress, I already knew he was a better man than me, but to see him take inane questions from the sleazy donk Senators, who violate their oath of office on a daily basis, and not lose his composure, rip their heads off and piss down their necks, has proven even further, what a good man he truly is.

I was deemed mentally unfit to join the marine core. I should have kept me mouth shut. I belivie I said something to the effect " if I go to war I will kill every last thing that moves or breathes, no exception."
I supose maybe they made the right choice. I could have become a leftards wet dream of a poster boy. I still feel strongly to that effect.

Sadly, it is the grunts and their families that will have to pay the price for the Cheney cabal's rampant politicization of the military long after all the brush is cleared in Crawford, instead of the buttcrack-nosing scumbags who've enabled it to occur under their command.
