One effect that Youtube has had on the world is that politicians now have to think a lot harder before they speak, as it is much easier to catch a public figure in a lie nowadays.

Call me naive, but I am constantly amazed (I know I shouldn't be, but I am) by how blithely these people spout complete falsehoods.

It's one thing to "know", on an intellectual level, that politicians lie on a regular basis. It feels totally different (to me, anyway) to actually see it happening.

One of the things that really bothers me about both Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama is that, not only do they not appear the slightest bit contrite about having been caught in a lie, they have given no indication that they see lying as a problem.

It seems that in their worldview, a politician lying to the people is the normal state of affairs, the way things are supposed to be.
