Jackie at 12-years old

Jackie was just a puppy when Shannon and I first met. A gift from the boyfriend previous to me.

Guess what, sucker? She’s my dog now!

Anyway…I got in good with Shannon early on (and bonded with Jackie) because my office was close to her apartment in Houston at the time, and I would go over there at lunch time to walk Jackie (whose real name is Lady Jack of Nacogdoches — my wife graduated from SFA).

Even stranger than her real name is her nickname: Poodle.

Even though she’s clearly not a Poodle.

Now she’s 12 years old. She’s mostly deaf. I think she’s going blind. She has fatty (but thankfully benign) tumors all over — the one on her belly is the size of a softball. She’s a little over weight at 39 lbs. And she just cost me $526 at the vet last week to treat what turned out to be a stomach virus.

But she’s still our little princess, and she definitely keeps Angus and Otis in their place.

Does she play with the other dogs?

[Editor --- Not really. But she's never really liked other dogs much --- she tolerated them, but doesn't much care for playing with them. She much prefers the company of and playing with people.]

Payback for selling her couch.
