HOFMEISTER: In the United States, access to our own oil and gas resources has been limited for the last 30 years, prohibiting companies such as Shell from exploring and developing resources for the benefit of the American people. It is not a free market. According to the Department of the Interior, 62% of all on-shore federal lands are off limits to oil and gas developments, with restrictions applying to 92% of all federal lands. The Argonne National Laboratory did a report in 2004 that identified 40 specific federal policy areas that halt, limit, delay, or restrict natural gas projects. The problem of access can be solved in this country by the same government that has prohibited it. Congress could have chose to lift some or all of the current restrictions on exploration and production of oil and gas. Congress could provide national policy to reverse the persistent decline of domestically secure natural resource development.

HOFMEISTER: There is simply no way to keep up — let alone get ahead of demand — except by producing more oil and building more refining capacity. That’s because of the makeup of the barrel of crude. Only a third to a half of a barrel of crude oil can be used to make these products. We can’t use more than half of a barrel of oil to make diesel and aviation fuel. To meet this demand we need more capacity. So we need policies that enable both more crude supply and more refining. Higher taxes would only serve to diminish the expansion capacity of this critical capital investment. I urge you on behalf of American consumers to resist such punitive policies.

Dianne, I was in KC for the NRA convention back in ‘01, and I was surprised at the decline in the city, and the aura of criminality I saw walking the streets.

The only good thing is they now have what is called The Power & Light District which has all kinds of entertainment and is actually quite nicely done - lots of outdoor restaurants/bars and the New Sprint Center which is bringing in some top notch entertainment tours. However, not only is it pricey, the parking is atrocious, and when you return to your car, if it’s still there, expect to see police checking on a break-in report somewhere in the immediate vicinity. Car jacking is becoming a real problem, and they’re shooting the victims while stealing their cars. These gangs are ruthless, no regard for human life.

And what a JOKE, congress grilling the oil execs on profits and why the gas prices are so high…WHAT.!!?? Congress blaming these guys, the same congress who creates all the rules and takes all the taxes these guys provide..!!! Are you kidding me???? That is just insane. The oil execs should have hammered back and said we would love to have lower gas prices, why not let us drill where WE think best and take off your piggish 35 cent tax on every stinking gallon of gas we buy. And while you’re at it congress, tell the middle east to do something about production or we will. And lastly, our ever so brilliant congress should get off their fat asses and finally start putting in place structures and policies for REAL alternative free energy like solar, wind, hydro, etc. I mean for the love of pete, how dare congress point their finger at anyone. It is congress who have set the game up with all their stupid politically correct rules, and then when we don’t dance to their lame tune they blame us or corporate America.???? Man, I must be living in the twilight zone. This country needs a complete and total shake down, we need a total cleaning of the houses of government. These people are so corrupt and the rules which they have created are so insane, there is almost no other way than to start over. If someone can tell me how “the people” are going to affect real change on this body of 500 corrupt politicians, then please….reveal this secret. The deck is stacked against us, and they hold all the keys. Short of a revolt, how do we fix this problem of government gone wild…???????

Exxon-Mobile has 80% of its business offshore since it could not drill in the US. All Exxon-Mobile has to do if threateded by Maxine Waters is to move to Dubi or other country and leave the 20% domestic part to be “socalized”

What else would she nationalize? All the big free-market, free-enterprise private entities. So, that would be health care, automotive, pharmaceutical, industry, farming, etc. All the industries that have high consumer costs are also the ones that government has a big influence in regulation and subsidies.

I am wondering how she thinks the government would be able to solve a supply and demand problem with the oil industry? Hmm. maybe more drilling and refining?

In this person’s view, Ms. Waters let us all know the real plan of the liberals and leftists. In the end, Ms. Waters simply let slip one of the greatest secrets ever. Remember, Loose Lips Sink Ships. One should consider ignoring the fact that Ms. Waters verbally presented this statement and realize that she could have never devised it herself, rather she was simply repeating what she heard in a dastardly “back-room” meeting on this topic. If the government were to nationalize the oil and natural gas industries by controlling the refineries, natural gas storage facilities and domestic oil and gas production fields, the government would stand to make a higher amount of cash to place into government coffers to be used to further impede on corporate and individual rights.

This should be reported with vigor as this is merely a signal of the proposed intent of individuals who would prefer to further control our lives by further controlling energy production and distribution networks.
