McCain to Obama — I’m Not Afraid

I can’t stand a lot of his policy, especially immigration — but when John McCain talks foreign policy and national defense, they’re really nothing Obama can say or do but go sit in a corner with his tail between his legs.

Like this:

I have news for Senator Obama: I have met some very bad people before in my life. It is not fear that drives my opposition to unconditional meetings with Ahmadinejad, Khamenei, Kim Jong Il, and Raul Castro; rather it is my clear understanding that such a course will fail to eliminate the threat posed by these rogue regimes. I don’t fear to negotiate. Instead I have the knowledge and experience to understand the dangerous consequences of a naive approach to Presidential summits based entirely on emotion.

This is McCain at his best, and it makes Obama look like a little boy playing a man’s game.

Please. John McCain has been one of the primary cheerleaders of the invasion of Iraq, which will go down as THE most egregious foreign policy blunder ever undertaken by America. His honorable military service stands in stark contrast to that, as well as the numerous flip-flops and political hand-puppetry he has been peddling since he ran against Bush in 2000.

Over and over when addressing Iranian armament we’re told that we won’t take any option off the table: yet that is exactly what McCain is doing.

Why do McCain and Bush want to unilaterally reduce our influence in the Middle East?

Adam, people are going to believe that you’re just my sock puppet if you keep tossing me softballs.

There are three options with dealing with countries we disagree with: war, diplomacy, or sitting on your hands. By being afraid to negotiate McCain apparently wants to reprise the Bush strategy of doing nothing which was a disaster in N. Korea or the Bush strategy of war which was a disaster in Iraq.

your view is far too oversimplified to debate. addressing nationalistic differences can occur an endless number of ways. i’m curious why you assume mccain is “afraid” to negotiate. i’m also curious what evidence you have to suggest that the bush strategy toward north korea or iraq was a disaster.
