A pro-illegal immigration article from the Austin American-Statesman (Steven Kreytak) — spinning illegal immigrants who are arrested and deported in this country as “victims.”
Six weeks later, Rodriguez was arrested on public intoxication charges and brought to the Travis County Jail. He was tagged by immigration agents and became enmeshed in a federal effort to charge even those with minor or no criminal history with the crime of re-entering the U.S. after deportation, a felony.
Nice spin, Kreytak. Except for one little fact that you are overlooking — the very first time they sneaked into our country illegally, they became a criminal. And when they were caught and deported, they had a criminal history.
And since they were informed that re-entering would be a felony, they are getting exactly what they deserve: time behind bars.
It’s just unfortunate that we don’t charge the Mexican government to incarcerate them.
The effort, part of a nationwide crackdown on illegal immigration, has led to a surge in the number of undocumented immigrants in Austin who are being hit with a felony conviction, and sometimes sent to prison, before being deported.
The practice has been criticized by immigrant advocates and defense lawyers, who call it a waste of resources.
Of course immigration advocates think it’s a waste of resources. They’d probably rather we use those resources to make life for illegal immigrants easier and more comfortable here in the US.
Ramirez oversees immigration agents who look for undocumented immigrants in prison and jails, including the Travis County Jail, where the increased presence of immigration agents this year has drawn protests in Austin.
ICE officials have said that from January 1 through March 31, the agency placed 763 immigration holds on inmates at the Travis County Jail — an almost 400 percent increase from the same period last year.
Good. That means that ICE is doing their job and enforcing immigration law in Texas. Fuck the protesters of protecting our country’s sovereignty.

Illegal Immigration IS A CRIME:
8 U.S.C. 1325 = illegal entry.
” (a) Improper time or place; avoidance of examination or inspection;
misrepresentation and concealment of facts Any alien who (1) enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers, or (2) eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers, or (3) attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact, shall, for the first commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18 or imprisoned not more than 6 months, or both, and, for a subsequent commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18, or imprisoned not more than 2 years, or both.”
First, let us remember the “illegal” part of being an illegal immigrant. Most Americans don’t seem to have problems with legal immigration, however it only seems fair to question the value of any additions to our country who already show no regard for it’s laws upon arrival.
Second, it seems far too easily forgotten that one must be an U.S. citizen in order to warrant the rights afforded to a citizen. That should be the end of discussion.
Third, legal immigrants working alongside native born citizens have made this country what it is. We have thrived on the contributions of immigrants and will usually need them, though to varying degrees, throughout most sectors of our economy. The problem is that we cannot afford to turn a blind eye to those who enter illegally, ignore our laws and seek to subvert our culture and national values. We welcome those who follow the rules, learn the English language, and respect our sovereignty. As illegal immigrants, it is not only offensive but also ridiculous to ask for rights, which they have not earned nor are entitled to.
Let’s secure our borders by building the fence so we have an effective and controlled immigration system at the same time as we enforce our currently existing immigration laws. During this interval we encourage illegals to depart (attrition through enforcement). Once our borders are secured and we have a grip on a functional system of immigration, we move against those illegals that have refused to leave. We should never ever grant amnesty.
We tried ‘comprehensive immigration reform’ in 1986. We gave amnesty to 3 million illegal aliens in exchange for the government promising to secure the borders, conduct workplace enforcement and enforce immigration law. It didn’t work because the government lied and did nothing other than process the amnesty paperwork. Due to that folly, we now have 20 Million or more illegal aliens here demanding amnesty.
Don’t you think it is far beyond time that we engage in Comprehensive Immigration ENFORCEMENT rather than Comprehensive Immigration Reform?
Fight illegal immigration. Here’s information on how:

This issue will just not go away. I say jail time is the least this guys deserves. Build the fence and electrify it. Fine and put in jail anyone who hires illegals. Stop anchor babies by mandating that both parents be American. Tax all wired money back to mexico with a heavy fee. Make mexico give us so many barrels of oil for every illegal here. And why is our responsibility to educate a child who is not American in our schools?? I don’t care how this sounds to all the limp wristed liberals, but let’s talk honestly. If we can’t be honest about this illegal invasion we will never make progress. What other country would allow a child to just drag up at the school door and say let me in, educate me??? Most all other countries would say, NO. Sorry. As well they should.
This is exactly why these people are pouring over by the millions. We educate their children, give them benefits like social security, lone star welfare cards, jobs, medical care at emergency rooms, they get cars and drive with no insurance so we all pay when they plow into us…..I mean wake up people. The time for nice talk is over. If we don’t push back, and push back hard, then say goodbye to the America we know and love. This country will be overrun and in one more generation we will be mexico version 2.0 with all the crime and poor they have. Speaking English will be a handicap, not the norm. If ever there was a time to play hardball, well…….this is it.!!!! Why so many people can’t look at the hard cold facts about this invasion is mind boggling to me. The media and liberals want to wring their hands and call people who think like me haters. This just shows the hollowness of their argument. Name calling is the last resort of someone with NO facts or basis to argue. The fact is we are being overrun because we have lost our will to be unpleasant and say NO, no you can’t have everything we have. If you are not an American, you should not get all the benefits we get. If you want to become a citizen, then I welcome you with open arms. But If we continue down our current path, it will be our undoing one day. This illegal immigration problem is squarely on the shoulders of our weak leaders who want to pander, and to “the people” for electing such weak empty suits. What happened to this strong nation? Is this the nation that crushed Japan and Germany?? I think that country is gone, or at least our backbone is gone. And now with all 3 of the presidential candidates favoring some kind of amnesty, we are just screwed. How did we wind up with these 3 lame candidates?? Was anybody watching the debates? How on earth could republicans elect Mccain who wrote the damn amnesty bill last year with kennedy??? Did anyone know that? Am I the only one who saw what a weak guy McCain is on this issue???? What a disaster. Just how blind have Americans become? I can only blame 20-30 years of political correctness on this madness. It strips your will to fight back and makes you a guilty, sniveling shell of a person. Just plain sad.
