Barry Obama Has Only Worked 143 Actual Days as a US Senator

Back in November, I wrote that if I were the Election Law Czar:

…the very first law that I would pass would be to prohibit sitting US Senators or Representatives from running for President of the US.

If they want to run for President — fine. Resign your seat.

Why? Because Senators and Representative were elected (and are paid) to do their jobs.

NOT to campaign full time.

Barack Obama is an empty suiteAs if I needed actual proof and facts to back up my opinion — Cheri Jacobus has counted up the number of days that Sen. Barry Obama has actually worked as…you know…a fucking US Senator. Instead of out looking for a better job.

And how many days has Barry actually logged?

Just how much Senate experience does Barack Obama have in terms of actual work days? Not much.

From the time Barack Obama was sworn in as a United State Senator, to the time he announced he was forming a Presidential exploratory committee, he logged 143 days of experience in the Senate. That’s how many days the Senate was actually in session and working.

After 143 days of work experience, Obama believed he was ready to be Commander In Chief, Leader of the Free World, and fill the shoes of Abraham Lincoln, FDR, JFK and Ronald Reagan.

143 days — I keep leftovers in my refrigerator longer than that.

In contrast, John McCain’s 26 years in Congress, 22 years of military service including 1,966 days in captivity as a POW in Hanoi now seem more impressive than ever. At 71, John McCain may just be hitting his stride.

E-M-P-T-Y S-U-I-T.

Combined with his self-proclaimed superior “foreign policy experience” based on the 4 years he lived (though NOT as a Moooslum) in Indonesia as a child — the guy has exactly zero non-hopey and non-changey experience to be our next President.

I’m looking forward to watching Sen. McCain hammer this neophyte in face-to-face debates. Obama hasn’t had to face many any real men in the Democratic party (with the possible exception of Hillary, of course), so this will be fun to watch.

  1. But, but, he gives a good speech! What more do you want????

  2. Keen GOP strategists know that McCain’s got a nearly insurmountable hill to climb here. The war/economy/Bush’s coattails have made the Republican label absolutely toxic. 25% of Republicans have been casting votes for Huckabee/Paul/Romney in the primaries since McCain clinched the nomination. While Limbaugh and the AM noise machine continue to provide bread and circus for the average Republican, Rove, Gingrich, and the party architects are shifting focus from how to beat Obama to how to save the GOP from the Whigs’ fate.

    Quo vadis?

  3. Dianne, that’s a good speech, as long as he is prepared and has a teleprompter.

  4. A. Wouldn’t it be fair to compare their respective times using the same methodology?

    B. Do you honestly believe that Senators are not ‘working’ those days when they happen not to be on the floor of the Senate?

    C. Have you heard McCain recently? Do you really think he is going to mop the floor with anyone? He oozes Bob Dole at every turn: Just in the last week he has proposed a “League of Nations” and referred to Czechoslovakia in the present tense.

  5. All that Mc has going against him, he still ain’t Baracka Hussein Obama.

  6. I read somewhere that there are proposals for a new league of nations that will eventually replace the U.N. which has become a joke with all the corruption and would exclude madmen dictatorships.

  7. If Obama is short on foreign policy experience, you wouldn’t know it by watching how the Bush administration has been pursuing Obama’s stated foreign policy strategies.

The Bush administration has pushed ahead with high-level diplomatic negotiations with Iran and North Korea, agreed to a “time horizon” for a reduction of U.S. forces in Iraq and announced plans last week to shift troops and other resources from Iraq to Afghanistan. U.S. officials also confirmed last week that Bush has formally authorized cross-border raids into Pakistan without that government’s approval — an idea that Obama first endorsed, and was heavily criticized for, last year.

Not bad for a guy with “143″ days of experience. Even the President listens to him instead of McCain. I’ll take Good Judgement over Experience any day.

[Editor --- Except Obama has neither. In spades. I'm sorry...are we allowed to use that common phrase, or is it considered to be too racially tinged now in reference to Obama?]

  8. Hey Chris, First off Being a Modern Vet. (with in the Last 25 yrs.) and having any type of sense of being in our military, I feel anybody who won’t salute the symbol of our freedom doesn’t have the right to be a public official let alone,” The Commander and Chief” of Our armed forces, anyone who has been there, can tell you its another story to tell people to go into a fight and die for your country. Then to have be told to go and YOU may have to die for your country… He has never held a gun and never held anybody’s lives in his hands, so he can pound salt as far as I am concerned….

  9. How many days did Ronald Reagan log as a US Senator?? Zero! Nada… NONE!

    Fact Check:
Senator Obama was sworn in to his first Senate term on January 2005 and joined the 109th Congress.

Senator Obama announced his intent to form a panel to explore a Presidential bid on January 16, 2007.

Total days in session during this time period equals 304 days.

Oh – Yeah.. and during that time…

Sen. McCain only had four Senators miss more votes in the 109th Congress (2005-2006). Sen. McCain missed 58 votes but, to his credit, did cast 587 votes. Sen. Obama? He missed 11 votes and cast 634 votes.

Sell crazy somewhere else… we’re all stocked up here!

  10. Hey- what are you complaining about. That’s 143 days LONGER than ACTUAL days Bush served in office his entire 8 years. He’s on vacation more than he is working. Yet you voted HIM in office. TWICE!!! Ever hear of the saying “Fool me once shame on you, Fool me twice, shame on Me”.
And I’m so tired of military members using the excuse “he’s never held a gun or watch someone die in your arms”. Well you know what, coming from someone who served in the military herself, 4 brothers who all served in the military (all in the Gulf war) and a husband who is retired military – Sorry but we had no business in Vietman, and we had no business in Iraq. No lives should have been lost. Both wars were a mistake and NO ONE should have had to carry a gun or watch their 18 year old friend die so the Rich and get Richer off of oil and contractors get rich off of wars. I know Navy Seal and Marin Recons. And they are pissed that they make 40 to 60 grand doing what they do and here come contractor’s making 200grand at war for the same job Seals and Recons do. If you realize that War=$$$ for all the greedy people in office – you would never want to join the military.

  12. Reptition doesn’t make your bullshit BDS rant true, max.
We’ve all heard the same LLL nonsense about W being on vacation too often, and it’s not worthy of the research to prove he was any different in that regard, than other Presidents.
And you’re wrong, I voted for W four times, and would vote for him again.
You want to talk about vacations, how about Nancy Piglosi ordering five weeks off when the energy crisis was at it’s peak.
B-HO and his lack of time in the Senate, is pathetic, made even more so by the fact he has no executive experience at all. None.

  13. of those “634 votes” you might want to check the percentage of how many times he said yea or nea. Cause from what I see, he voted ABSENT most of the time.

I see where 143 days of experience comes from now.

As for Ronald Regan having no senate experience, HE WAS THE GOVERNOR OF CALIFORNIA…..HELLLOOOOOO……
