The only good part of this story is that at least Texas tax payers will not have to pay for the lengthy capital murder trial, appeals, incarceration on Death Row for the next 12-20 years, and the eventual execution of this cop-killer:

LINDEN — The suspect in the fatal shooting of a Department of Public Safety trooper killed himself in East Texas on Thursday as authorities closed in on his location, DPS said.

Brandon Wayne Robertson, 37, was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound just outside of Linden in Cass County. DPS said that authorities had been tracking him with the help of calls he made to 911 and calls to a tip line.

Robertson, a former police officer, was named in a capital murder warrant in the death of Trooper James Scott Burns, 39, who was killed Tuesday night after pulling over a car near Lake O’ The Pines in East Texas.

Burns didn’t have a chance to remove his seat belt as he stopped his patrol car, just before being shot multiple times with a shotgun, authorities said. A passer-by later used the trooper’s radio to call for help.

Robertson was out on bail from an earlier drug possession charge — I’m betting that when Trooper Burns pulled Robertson over he had a significant amount of illegal drugs in his possession again. Combine that with the loaded weapon(s) he was obviously carrying, and Robertson knew he was going straight to prison.

Not a good thing for a former cop. So the coward shot the trooper and then killed himself.

  2. Jake, if you are indeed a brother in law enforcement, please go find other employment….what you said does not honor the fallen Trooper….it makes you seem more like a murderer also….

    • although cruel…and Eye for an Eye…..I am a brother of Law Enforcement…3 holes…would have been quite adequate

  3. Scott was too good to die at the hands of this guy. I hope Brandon Robertson rots in hell. He took one of the best Texas State Troopers off of payroll. The world is a little less safe now because of this guy.

  4. I heard he took three shots…..first time I have ever heard of a suicide taking more than one shot.

  5. brandon robertson was NOT a coward. people go down wrong roads. he was one of them. he was a GREAT father and son. anyone who knew him would agree. the loss of the cop was terrible but so was the loss of brandon, he was my dad and will always b remembered of one of the most loving guys alive!
i love u dad. hope your loving heaven. i miss u

    • Yes, he was a coward. He shot that trooper in cold blood. And don’t pretend your father was merely having a bad hair day. Drug addicts, drug dealers, and people who murder cops are not great fathers or sons.

    • Sadly….He is where he belongs….

  6. all of you need to shut the fuck up because its over, there both dead and you talkin shit is not going to bring them back!

  7. i knew brandon, he was not a cowart, the drugs went to his head. i know what he did was wrong but i agree with his daughter who i also have a week before his death

  8. i ment to say met a week before his death, sorry

  9. [Comment deleted by Robbie, because this kind of cop-bashing is not welcome nor tolerated here. Outside of the union-bastard cops in Wisconsin, my respect for law enforcement officers is exceeded only by my respect for US military personnel.]
