Rep. Todd Akin — Enough is Enough

Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.), a member of the House Armed Services Committee, has introduced legislation to deal with what he has described as “a growing number of our fellow citizens [who] are abusing their right of free expression through vandalism and violent protest aimed at military recruiters and those who wish to serve.”

All I can say is, It’s about fucking time.

Freedom of speech is one thing — and I’ll die for their right to be as big of a prick as you want to our military men and women. As long as your free speech doesn’t cross the line into vandalism, physical attacks, and impeding their ability to accomplish their mission.

But unfortunately, there are way too many instances of unhinged liberal lunatics crossing that line.

The work of military recruiters is essential to maintain the volunteer force.  To protect them, Rep. Akin has introduced The Freedom to Serve Act of 2008 (FSA).  Rep. Akin’s legislation, HR 6023, would make it a federal crime to undermine or prevent military recruiting through vandalism and acts of violence or intimidation.

Actually, I don’t think this particular legislation is needed though.

Instead, simply allow the soldiers to defend themselves when they are attacked, using all the training and might of the US military.

If the moonbats really want a confrontation with our Soldiers, I say we engage them. Just like when moonbats vandalize recruiting offices and assault Military recruiters, I think that the military should be able to defend their selves and the government’s property with whatever force is necessary. Actually, with more force than necessary.

As I wrote here, “How much longer do you think we’re going to allow you to do this (before we fight back)?”

“We’re rapidly approaching a breaking point of tolerating the abuse and violence and unhinged hatred coming from the “peace” activists on the Left.”

And as I wrote here, “I’m looking forward to the day when the rules of engagement against domestic enemies are lifted, and these soldiers are allowed to defend themselves and their posts.

We’ll see exactly how brave these pieces of shit are then….”

The thing these assholes don’t seem to understand is that their rights to “assemble” and to engage in “freedom of speech” ends when they start impeding somebody else’s ability to engage in their own freedoms.

Nice Deb reminds us that Rep. Arkin is a former Army officer with two sons in the military and one at the U.S. Naval Academy.
