UPDATE — And the moratorium is officially over. He’s good and dead.
Euphoric Reality reminds us to, “Get the Needles Ready — We’re Back in Business“:
William Earl Lynd, 53, is slated to die tonight at 1900 hours. He’ll be the first inmate executed since the Supreme Court ruled that lethal injection was not cruel and unusual punishment.
What did Lynd to deserve the ultimate punishment?
Lynd was convicted of kidnapping and shooting his live-in girlfriend, Ginger Moore, 26, in south Georgia in 1988, after the two consumed Valium, marijuana and alcohol. Prosecutors said she suffered a slow, agonizing death, regaining consciousness twice after being shot in the head.
In related good news, the most vile person currently sitting on death row in the United States (and that’s really saying something), Jose Medellin, has been given a date with the gurney — August 5.

This guy was a lot worse than your post relates. A few days after murdering the first woman, he tricked another woman, who was driving to meet her family for Christmas, into stopping her car and he shot and killed her. He also had a prior history of sexual assault.
Twenty years to attain justice, for this miscreant.
I feel nothing for him, but contempt. May he perfect his backstroke on the River Styx with those murderous bastids he will be joining.
My deepest sympathies for the family and friends who suffered because of this one person.

He’s dead, Jim!
I wish they would have executed that scumbags lawyers too!
Regarding your update link: Once again the media deliberately omits the fact that Lynd murdered two women. Why?
Lynd later killed 42-year-old Detroit resident Leslie Joan Sharkey after attacking her on the side of a road near Chesapeake, Ohio. Leslie was shot on Christmas Day as she traveled to West Virginia for a family gathering. According to the Georgia attorney general’s office, Lynd was able to convince Leslie Sharkey that her car was damaged after attracting her attention by flashing his headlights at her. When she pulled her car over to the side of the road, Lynd attacked her and shot her three times.
My husband and I had a front row seat for this execution. We are so relieved that we now have closure. Ginger finally got justice after over 19 years.
