A quick observation: not only is George Will infinitely smarter than Steven Colbert, but he’s actually quite a bit funnier, too.
Steve Colbert is simply out of his league sitting across from George Will in this video (hosted at Hot Air).
Best one liner from Will (which is all that Colbert would give him the time for), on the role of the Government:
Deliver the mail, defend the shores, and get out of the way.

And second best explanation from Will, where he explains that the primary difference between Conservatives and Liberals is Freedom and Equality. We believe in Freedom, and are willing to sacrifice some equality for the sake of freedom. Liberals believe in equality, and are willing to sacrifice freedom (ceding it to the government) for equality:
Conservatives will protect the country from liberals’ naive, futile, and damaging attempts to mandate equality.
