When you only have seconds to spare, the police are only minutes away.

And that is why I conceal carry. Because if I had pulled up on this scene of a man beating, stomping, and kicking to death a one year old infant, I would not have hesitated to put several new holes into his body:

TURLOCK, Calif. (AP) - A 27-year-old man was fatally shot by police as he kicked, punched and stomped an approximately 1 year-old child to death in front of horrified motorists who tried to stop the attack on a dark country road, authorities said.

At 10:13 p.m. Saturday, a truck caught the attention of an elderly couple because it was stopped in the two-lane road facing the wrong direction, county sheriff’s deputy Royjindar Singh said.

As they got closer, the couple saw the man brutally beating the baby behind his truck and throwing the child on the ground, according to Singh. Two or three other cars stopped, an unusual number to be passing through the remote area surrounded by a dairy, a cow pasture, a cornfield and a farmhouse, he said.

“What we got from witnesses is he was punching, slapping, kicking, stomping, shaking,” Singh said. “They tried to intervene and get involved, but their efforts really didn’t have an effect. The suspect was engaged in what he was doing. He just pushed them off and went back to it.”

A sheriff’s helicopter responding to emergency calls from the area landed in a cow pasture at 10:19 p.m. The helicopter was used to illuminate the suspect, and they ordered him to cease and desist. He continued his savage attack on the baby. A Modesto police officer who had exited the helicopter then shot the man to death, Singh said.

Paramedics tried to resuscitate the baby, who was not breathing when they arrived. The boy was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Two or three car fulls of people (even if there was only one person per car) couldn’t stop this man from beating a baby to death?

Well, they didn’t try fucking hard enough. They should have been throwing their bodies at that man. They should have pulled tire irons out of their cars to beat him with.

Anything.

Which again is why I carry. Police were only minutes away. Imagine if the very first motorist had been legally carrying a handgun. And they had used it immediately.

That poor baby might still be alive.

This story makes me absolutely sick to my stomach. Thank god the guy is dead.

Yep, the first couple that stopped and called the police were elderly and I could see them being afraid. But, I don’t know why the others couldn’t have helped. I would have gotten my tire iron out on him. I would also ask people to help me distract him and someone else grab the baby and lock themselves in a car. Another way would have been to briefly get him away from the baby and drive your car over the baby to protect him and them someone in another car run the guy over, back up, run him over again, back up, and run him over again ….

As you can see, I’ve been thinking about this a lot.

If not a gun, then the large knife I use for radiator hoses would work. Or my four-way. Or my fists, steel-toe work boots, or forehead.

This guy’s deserving of he underside of my truck’s tires.

Anybody that could do this to a child, deserves to be shot.
As for the uninvolved witnesses, I sure hope their writing out a statement didn’t inconvenience them too much.

I am a woman and I would have grabbed anything to hit that psycho.

I would have screamed help the baby!!!

Yes I would have risked my life to try to save that baby!

If I were in my car and saw that I would run him over.

No 911, no getting out of my car!

You say you conceal carry.

That’s what I have to do! I will begin my quest soon!

I myself was assaulted by a police officer at a concert. I was seriously injured but
I found out that a police man is ABOVE THE LAW!! No lawyer would take my case.

As a woman in this world I need protection for me and my family!!!

All the people there - failed that little baby!!!

Left it up to 911-didn’t want to get involved!!!

It would take several really determined folks to have kept that pyscho off the child from the accounts I have read. It’s sad but true that many people will not take the initiative to get involved personally and physically. Crazy people are hard to dissuade. I am sorry for that poor child and his mother. I am also sorry for the people that witnessed that…… they will never be the same either. I imagine that they too have replayed the scene over and over and wondered what they should have or could have done differently. Not all people respond well to crisis situations. This is one of those times that makes me want to keep a weapon with me.

I’m glad that officer killed the 27 yr. old maggot.

It sure seems like a little more effort should have been put toward stopping the as*hole.

I’ve got a nice hefty Maglite flashlight I keep in my car.

I have cried and cried, I do not understand why nobody could help this child, I mean my god how many does it take to restrain one man ? Did anyone have a tire iron or something they could have used to knock his ass out ? So many questions that will probully never be answered. I have a young son and if someone ever laid a hand on him or any other child in front of me the devil himself could’nt stop me from getting that child to safety. That poor child and what he went through just make me sick to my stomach.

I am so horrified that a father could do that to a child. I have 2 small boys and i promise if I ever witnessed anything like what that demon did to that baby he would be dead!! I am a Nurse and have worked with psychiatric, psychotic, extremely agitated men and I could have taken him down. I would have taken him down if I witnessed a child a baby being murdered in front of me!!!! I hope he rots in unspeakable pain.

The people who failed to help that baby are full of it. The first car that stopped had a 52 year old man and his 20 year old son and the man was a fire chief. You mean to tell me that man could jump into a burning building but could not defend a baby? I am a woman and I am not that big in stature but I would have tried as best as I could to help that child. There is no excuse for not rendering assistance to that baby. I served my country in the US Army against people overseas who were not half as evil as this guy. If I could go there, I could save a fellow citizen. There is no excuse.

Got something you want to say?
