Murdered by Charles Dean Hood on November 1, 1989

Tracie Lynn WallaceCharles Dean Hood brutally murdered Roland Williamson, 40, and his 26 year-old girlfriend, Tracie Lynn Wallace in Plano, TX neary 18 years ago.

I first wrote about this tragic story on June 8, 2005. That story evolved into something much bigger than I could have imagined.

The original post became a hot topic, with more than 450 comments written before I closed the comments section (and started a new thread on Charles Hood):

  • In those comments, I met and befriended the older sister of Tracie (who uses the alias Big Sis in the comments section). She sent me this picture of her little sister and asked me to post it here, to put a face with the name.
  • Roland Williamson’s son, Roger Williamson, also left a comment expressing his hatred of Charles Dean Hood.
  • Mike Graczyk — the correspondent in charge of the Houston bureau of the Associated Press, who has witnessed and written about more than 250 executions in Texas — stopped in and left a comment.
  • And then Charles Hood’s family got involved. His sister-in-law, Wendy Hood, stopped in to defend her brother-in-law. And then Charles’ brother James Hood got involved, sending me veiled threats.
  • It all came full circle when Charles Dean Hood himself sent me a letter from death row.

Charles has narrowly missed his execution date once before — he was supposed to be executed on this date (June 30) in 2005. But his time is running out, and his baseless appeals are too. Hopefully it won’t be too much longer until final justice is served, and the families of Tracie Lynn Wallace and Roland Williamson can close this tragic chapter.

Has Charles ever tried to counter what seems to be good evidence against him? (finger prints, using the victims truck and pawning he belongings).

As you guys are probably aware, I’m not in favour of the death penalty but all that Hoods defense seems to be here is that the prosecutors lied.

That’s about as useful as me telling you the grass isn’t green!

Does anyone know of Hood addressing this damning evidence?

Jonny

He is guilty…… the question is the sentencing phase…… He has escaped the punishment twice now….. I highly doubt he will escape a third time.

So the question of a “new Trial” is out of the question!

Jon you are entitled to have your feelings on the DP and I am entitled to mine.

I lost my best friend 17 almost 18 yrs ago, I and the rest of my family miss her so much….. she was a ray of sunshine in our lives, forever squelched by Hood, out of greed.

As far as me not knowing what my sister was doing was bull shit, I knew very well what she was doing…… If have never had an addiction of substance you will never understand what goes on…… I have dealt with addiction and it is a tough thing to “put away” . I have a good education because I wanted a different way of life….. I am confident, strong ,very independent and outspoken. Obtaining an education helped me to become that person. My sister Tracie was starting to go in that direction before she was MURDERED, she never got the chance to better her life.

Heres a kicker for you… I too worked in a strip club with my sister and worked at a hospital doing what I do best…take care of patients.

I understand about having to do what you must to survive. My life has never been a cake walk… I was not born with a “silver spoon” in my mouth… So for Hood to talk about how bad he had it growing up…. I say welcome to the world of hard knocks dude. Life is the only game in town and you have to play it out…… opting out is not an option.

Oh and this is for Darby…… GO TO HELL!

Hi BigSis,
I won’t even patronise you to say I understand your pain.
It is a very sad situation, and one that unfortunatley cannot set to rest due to the diabolical judicial and punishment system of Texas (and most other states that emply a capital punishment system).

You will obviously know much more than I about the case, so may I ask you if Hood has ever directly answered the overwhelming evidence that seems to be stacked against him?

Or is he just another scum bag protesting innocence so he can go through the appeal circuits over a 20 or so year period?

Jonny

His attorneys didn’t put him on the stand……. he lied to his attorneys, he is a pathological lier…… I have sat on several jury trials related to homicide/ manslauter…… I have found that in most cases that if there is a “problem” with the client and they feel it would be daming to the offender…. they don’t put them on the stand. If he were truly innocent he should have been jumping up and down in that court room……. He sat in the court room as if nothing happened, HE JUST SAT THERE. He has tried to counter the evidence in appeals but alas he is unable to prove it…. oh someone made me touch all those things…… I say bull shit!

He is just another scum bag abusing the system.

Take care , thank you for not patronizing me, it has been a difficult thing to deal with, I will be glad when this finally comes to a closure.

Geeze Robbie, you’ve about got enough material for a book.

THANKS ROBBIE FOR POSTING SISSY’S PICTURE. YOU ROCK AS ALWAYS!

beautiful angel

Soon sissy justice will be done…..

With only one week left before Charles Hood is executed, I have started a new post HERE for any new comments about this story.

Why was he granted a reprieve? What will happen next? Funny how these murderer’s cry when their death approaches but they sure did not have any qualms about killing others. Makes me sick..

I knew Tracie Wallace and her family. She was a nice girl who deserved better than the result of this.

I can understand people being against the death penalty. What I cannot understand are those people who claim to be anti-death penalty and who blame the victims of crime for the results of their death. These people to me will always be punks and hypocrites who offer nothing of substance to the overall debate on capital punishment.

From what I have read about Charles Hood, the Tracie I knew had a much harder life prior to her murder than Charles. That leaves me with little sympathy towards Charles or the outcome of his sentence.
That leaves me with even less sympathy for his groupies who want him released.

God Bless the victims families in this case!

Got something you want to say?
