Bud Kennedy is a leftwing hack columnist at the Star-Telegram.
He has a piece today where he makes the claim that arson theory in regards to the fire at the Governor’s Mansion “doesn’t hold water.”
Despite the fact that he hasn’t seen the fire scene. Despite the fact that he has not interviewed the forensic arson investigators nor the fire chief. And despite the fact that he himself probably doesn’t know the difference between chemistry and physics.
He thinks that the theory doesn’t hold water because he found one “arson expert” to agree with him:
Gerald Hurst of Austin, a chemist and nationally known expert witness, said Sunday that state fire marshals might have been too quick to blame arson. At first glance, the fire was probably a construction accident connected to the mansion remodeling project, he said.
Mr. Hurst must be one amazing “fire expert” — was able to rule out arson from the comfort of his easy chair at home, all without ever once actually being on the site of the actual fire.
On the other hand, people who have actually visited the scene and seen the evidence still conclude that it was arson:
State Fire Marshal Paul Maldonado said surveillance video that officials have obtained indicate at least one person was responsible. He said investigators have no indication that the fire was politically motivated.
Hursts’ lazy job of reporting was nothing more than an opportunity to disparage Governor Perry. Whose house just burned down.
