South Carolina became the first state to offer its drivers vanity license plates featuring a cross over a stained-glass windows and the words “I Believe.”
No big deal.
If you don’t want a Christian license plate, don’t buy one, right?
Nooooo….the anti-Christian leftards just can’t have other people publicly displaying signs of their Christianity in public.
All you have to do is look at the comments section from one of the Left’s most prominent political blogs (Think Progress) to see tolerance in action.
Here’s just a quick sampling:
“It’s nice to know who the morons are when you’re out driving.”
“Sue ‘em, christo-fascist fux…or, just key the shit outta any car bearing those plates…”
“Hey, it gives a clear indications to other drives of who is delusional.”
“How much does a paintball gun cost?”
“You hear that Christians? All you need to do is STFU and go away and you’ll get everything, so sayeth the Jeebus.”

Wrong. People don’t want the implicit government sponsorship of religion.
If you want to put a crucifix on your dashboard- knock yourself out.
Just don’t use state money to proselytize, that’s all.
[Editor --- You mean the US currency that states "In God We Trust" on it?]
How is a “vanity” plate using state money? It’s an expensive item.
No, the real reason is the symbol, which the left cannot abide. It’s a reminder that there is a God, people who believe in him, and a reminder that liberalism/Marxism isn’t their religion.
Robbie: “In God We Trust” didn’t become the national motto until 1956. It was a play by christian-minded conservatives to further blur the line between church and state.
However, I do think people should be able to get a Christian license plate if they want…but public funds should not be used.
Robbie-
The apparatus of government is being used to define legitimate and illegitimate speech. You are allowed to “say” only what the government approves of.
I remember when conservatives opposed that sort of thing.
Great news, so when can I order plates with a Pentacle?
Talk about intolerant.
B-HO’s presidential campaign website is loaded with it.
Preston — you seem to be missing (or intentionally ignoring) the point of the post.
I’m not worried about the separation of church and state, or the implicit “state sanctioning” of religion (because like it or not, separate it or not, Christianity is the religion of the United States of America).
This post is about the intolerance and Christianity bashing of the left. Who thinks that Christians are “delusional” and deserve to have their cars keyed simply for professing their faith in God.
Care to comment on that?
I don’t defend people attacking others who are practicing their religion.
That doesn’t make the license plates right.
separate it or not, Christianity is the religion of the United States of America
What does this even mean? It’s true that there are lots of Christians in the United States. It’s also true that Christianity is never mentioned in the Constitution of this country.
