The Wall Street Journal has an article up today about paying a “fair share” of taxes — namely, that Barry Obama and his Democratic buddies want the rich to pay an even more “fair share” of taxes than they already are.

But the truth is, in this country, the rick pay way, WAY more than their fair share of taxes:

The nearby chart shows that the top 1% of taxpayers, those who earn above $388,806, paid 40% of all income taxes in 2006, the highest share in at least 40 years. The top 10% in income, those earning more than $108,904, paid 71%. Barack Obama says he’s going to cut taxes for those at the bottom, but that’s also going to be a challenge because Americans with an income below the median paid a record low 2.9% of all income taxes, while the top 50% paid 97.1%. Perhaps he thinks half the country should pay all the taxes to support the other half.

Actually, yes. That is what Barry and the Donks think. And it’s what the majority of their supporters (who, go figure, fall into the bottom half of income earners) also want.

For the life of me, you’ll never be able to convince me that any one citizen should pay a disproportionately larger share of taxes than any other citizen.

Actually, I believe that ever single citizen in this country should pay the exact same amount of taxes as every other citizen. Not a penny more or a penny less.

At this weekend’s Right On Line summit, former Maryland Lt. Governor Michael Steel was talking about the Dems continual desire to reach further and further into our pockets books and wallets.

Mr. Steele noted that at the end of each two weeks, when American workers get their pay checks, that the number on their check — the amount of money they get to take home — is bigger than the amount that the government takes.

And this should apply to ALL American workers equally — the ones that make $32K a year and those that make $500K per year. And everybody in between.

But the Democrats freely admit that they don’t mind if those who earn a little more, have take home checks that are less than half of what they send to the government.

We will never have a truly equal society as long as one half is paying for another half. Especially when that one half feels that they are entitled to the hard earned wealth of the other half.

I like the idea of a flat tax…makes way too much sense to get thru. I would also be in favor of a tax that is implemented at purchase time for goods to simply capture taxes from those who currently fly under the taxable radar. This would include Illegals, Titty Dancers, Pimps, HOES, and anyone else with untrackable cash incomes.

And as far as Obama threatening to drop the taxes on the bottom income earners, thats not such a bad thing. Its basically another attempt at “reaching across the aisle”. If it puts another 100 dollars a month into the pockets of each person at the bottom, you can bet that money wont be saved or put into any investments. It will be spent immediately on goods which puts money right back into upper and upper middle class hands, who then pay an unfair tax and it all goes right back to the government anyway ;)

A meaningful tax cut would sweep the benefits across the board for us all to enjoy. Of course, that would mean that the Government might actually have to start spending a bit less, which “aint gonna happen”, regardless of who wins the white house.

Why should a couple whose earning put them in a higher tax bracket be required to bear the burden of providing services for those who pay nothing. A family of four, who under under the poverty line, not only don’t pay any taxes, they get money back from tax paying citizens in the form of Earned Income Tax Credits. Up to $4,000 a year in a nice check from Uncle Sam.

The very citizens who pay the most are the very citizens who demand the least from the federal goverment in terms of services. Can anyone really claim that more police are required in upper income neighborhoods that is required in ghettos and slums?

Any clear thinking person understand that progressive taxes, one of the tenents of the Communist Manifesto, is a way to practice income redistribution. Take from those who have and give to those who have not, no matter what it may have taken for those who earn a good income had to go through to get to that level.

The Democrats will not be happy until those of us who manage to support ourselves are forced to support those who are too lazy to do what it takes to earn a good living.

Marx would be thrilled.

One thing to keep in mind, B-HO would raise taxes on everyone, including those who don’t pay any income tax. There are a whole host of other taxes that are ripe for big government to squeeze the life blood out of.

The easiest and simplest tax to implement is a consumption tax…in other words, a national sales tax. It’s the fairest tax one can have.

An income tax is inherently immoral. It punishes those who achieve.

An income tax is inherently immoral.

By what moral code?

There is only one country in the world that Bill Gates would have become the billionaire he is- his wealth is built on the infrastructure investments of prior generations. It is utterly “fair” and “moral” for him to pay a greater share of his income in taxes than others who have not reaped billions from that infrastructure.

An income tax is immoral, because it is no one’s business, least of all governments, to know how much money someone makes.
All anyone needs to know in that regard, is how much they spend.

..and 50 million people uninsured in the US isnt’t immoral..

Got something you want to say?
