This has to be a rhetorical question from Vanity Fair:
Is the Media Trying to Elect Obama?
Tomorrow, CBS’s Katie Couric will interview Barack Obama from Jordan. On Wednesday, ABC’s Charlie Gibson will chat with him from Israel. And on Thursday, NBC’s Brian Williams will do the honors from Germany. Call it the presidential campaign equivalent of Shooting the Moon.
The media love affair with Obama — who they are absolutely trying to get elected (it’s all a part of their narrative) — began a long time ago. Long before this latest invite only knob-slob foreign photo-op and faux interview junket.

Um… they’re interviews- that’s what the media does!
John McCain’s ‘base’ on the other hand continually has covered for his flip flops and blunders. Not to mention the outright conflicts of interest.
