A final word on Barry Obama snubbing wounded US Soldiers on his visit to Germany last week — from the former Command Sergeant Major of Landstuhl from 2003 to 2005:

Having spent two years as the Command Sergeant Major at Landstuhl Hospital, I am always grateful for the attention that facility receives from members of Congress. There is no more important work done by the United States Army than to care for those who have been wounded in the service [of] our country. While Americans troops remain engaged in two hot wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, there is a steady stream of casualties to the hospital, and a steady stream of visitors who wish to meet with those troops and thank them for their service.

Senator Obama has explained his decision to cancel a scheduled visit there by blaming the military, which would not allow one of his political advisers to join him in a tour of the facility. Why Senator Obama felt he needed an adviser with him to visit U.S. troops is unclear, but if Senator Obama isn’t comfortable meeting wounded American troops without his entourage, perhaps he does not have the experience necessary to serve as commander in chief.

Obama can spin that all he wants — but I’ll take the word of a professional and lifelong Soldier who knows more about visiting Soldiers at Landstuhl than the entirety of Obama’s staff.

And the fact remains…there was nothing preventing Obama himself from visiting those wounded soldiers. Well, nothing except a lack of cameras and press coverage.

I will also take the word of a no bullshit CSM over just about anybody, most especially over some light weight bullshit artist, like B-HO.

You and John McCain should be warned: A willingness to repeat lies seriously damages your credibility.

MITCHELL: There was never any intention-let me be absolutely clear about this. The press was never going to go. The entourage was never going to go

And you keep ignoring this simple truth:

There was nothing preventing Obama himself from visiting those wounded soldiers.

Nothing. He had a visit planned with wounded soldiers. He canceled his visit because his military adviser couldn’t stand by his side and hold his hand through it.

The Obama campaign thought that they could go, leave the press corps on the tarmac, and then take off with military escort and make this one last visit, as he did, by the way, in Iraq. He visited a casualty unit in the Green Zone without photographers as part of the congressional delegation. But the military said that the rules are that he could only go as part of a previously arranged congressional delegation to Ramstein.

Incidentally, did John McCain visit any wounded troops that day?

Got something you want to say?
