Note the reason the boy is standing on the troopers boots is that the ground gets very hot. In a very real sense, the trooper is providing relief that is more than just metaphorical.

Robbie – more Iraqis have died in the five years since our invasion than under 20+ years of Saddam. Saddam was easily contained, you idiots broke the goddamn bowl and now claim credit for making temporary repairs to it.
[Editor --- More people were killed during WW II than were killed during the Holocaust. Guess we shouldn't have done anything there, either.
More Americans died during the Civil War than they did from slavery. Guess we shouldn't have fought that silly war, either.
