While Barry was in Germany yesterday campaigning (despite their contention that his speech wasn’t campaigning) to be President of All Time, Space, and Dimension™, he was also pre-scheduled to make an appearance to visit US troops at Landstuhl and Ramstein.
At Landstuhl, he was supposed to swing by the military hospital to visit wounded war soldiers.
But, Barry decided at the last minute to cancel his trip to Landstuhl and Ramstein. So he could go shopping in Berlin and see some of the night life instead.
And why did Barry cancel his visit (other than the obvious disdain he has for the soldier he deems beneath his elitist-self)?
Because he wasn’t going to be allowed to use it as a photo op (from NBC’s Jim Miklaszewski and Courtney Kube):
One military official who was working on the Obama visit said because political candidates are prohibited from using military installations as campaign backdrops, Obama’s representatives were told, “he could only bring two or three of his Senate staff member, no campaign officials or workers.” In addition, “Obama could not bring any media. Only military photographers would be permitted to record Obama’s visit.”
The official said “We didn’t know why” the request to visit the wounded troops was withdrawn. “He (Obama) was more than welcome. We were all ready for him.”
Camp Obama is spinning it as, “The senator decided out of respect for these servicemen and women that it would be inappropriate to make a stop to visit troops at a U.S. military facility as part of a trip funded by the campaign.”
So, he was in Germany on a trip funded by his campaign. Yet, earlier in the day, while giving a big speech (in English, not German — shame on your Mr. Obama for not being bi-lingual) in front of thousands of people who can’t vote for him — Mr. Obama claimed lied that, “Tonight, I speak to you not as a candidate for President, but as a citizen – a proud citizen of the United States, and a fellow citizen of the world…”
So it wasn’t part of the campaign when it was convenient for him to be stumping for the Germans, but it was campaigning when it was time for him to snub American service men and women.
And this man wants to be their Commander in Chief?
Pathetic.

This makes the decision track very clear. Obama and his team set up the visits to military installations before going overseas. After seeing how the media got excluded in Iraq and Afghanistan, they decided it wasn’t worth traveling to Ramstein and Landstuhl to visit the severely wounded troops because they couldn’t bring the campaign and get the photo ops they wanted. Instead, Obama went shopping in Berlin.
As I wrote yesterday, that’s certainly a revealing set of priorities for a man who wants to lead these troops as Commander in Chief.

No matter what the truth is, the military troops are not going to be very happy with Obama. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, he could have pressed the issue with the Pentagon if he wanted to but instead he took the easy way out and just didn’t show. If he’s lying about this, though, I hope he’s fully exposed because this one is going to be hard to overcome.
Exactly what McCain did three months ago.
A little advice: whining about every little move that Barack Obama makes is not a compelling argument for why John McCain should be President of the United States.
My God, Preston, why don’t you just post a link directly to George Soros? VoteVets? You mean that organization run by Wesley Clark who can’t decide whose side he’s on? The same guy that was so inept that a foreign nation demanded that Clinton fire him from his gig overseas?
What are you? Some lurker who hides in dark corners until little old ladies pass by so you can rob them? Or just another raving liberal lunatic?
If your “boy” had any cojones, he would agee to debate McCain in town hall style at Fort Hood as the Fort Hood soldiers and their families have requested. But he knows he has few voters there so he would rather pander to the Eurowenies instead. Guess he could get his fill of arugula there.
He has no credible excuse for dumping on the wounded at Rammstein and Landstuhl. None. Except it just show how he, and the rest of the limp wristed Democrats, support the troops.
What the hell is Obama’s new campaign motto?
No photos-ops , no show?
Spare me. You know damn well that if his campaign had stopped at Landstuhl the right would not have shut up about his politicization of the troops.
If you recall, McCain spent all of June harping on Obama’s lack of international experience. To now attack him for being abroad simply reveals how desperate his campaign is.
I turned Fox’s live coverage of Obama’s Berlin speech off soon after he began.
The fool sounded like he’s running for president of the world.
If I was a supporter of his (just shoot me), I would not be happy my money was being spent Outside the US where NObody could vote for him.
The sane,…I mean conservatives, don’t have to nitpick everything he does, as he continually shoots himself in the foot.
Some political humor:

I’d love to know the name of the movie that clip is from.
If B-HO hadn’t been talking out of his asshat for the past two years, he would have made several unpublicized trips to Iraq and Afghanistan to visit the troops, and find out what is actually going on there.
He didn’t, he wouldn’t, and it is proper to mention his conduct and verbage on those two fronts in the GWOT.
To sum up, B-HO was against the surge, is still against it knowing what he knows now, but wants a surge in Afghanistan and even in Pakistan. He has a long way to go, and the road is up hill all the way, as the desperation is setting in for the B-HO campaign. He has gotten no bounce in the polls for his summer camp abroad, and has lost two points by several polls.
McCain only need remind people of B-HO’s actions. As Napoleon said, never interfere with your enemy when he is making mistakes.
I would not be happy my money was being spent Outside the US where NObody could vote for him.
McCain took a trip to Canada to speak there last month.
Someone should tell him that his faux outrage against everything Obama does isn’t helping him salvage his campaign:
“HEY! GET OFF MY LAWN!”
Preston, you can make all the excuses for the Lightworker you want, but resorting to using his whirlwind “Look At Me” tour as an example of his foreign policy experience only shows you to be as stupid as the candidate you support.
So I guess you think that any little old granny who takes a 10 day tour of foriegn capitals is then qualified to be POTUS?
One other point about the differences between McCain and Obama’s trips abroad; McCain did not make it one bit photo op.
Dammit! No cameras. I’m going to Nordstrom.
Its just sad. I’m glad that the germans did not give him much of a warm welcome.
Ok, new post please! I’ve read all these and run outta things to read!!! No time off! :>
