Unlike the Philly Inquirer, our office does think that celebrating our Nation’s independence is a worthy thing — not just this year, but every year.
And how’d we celebrate today? Our company served up a huge hot dog lunch (with chili, cheese, onions, and relish — sadly, and to my great complaining, no sauerkraut) and lots of apple pie, peach pie, and vanilla ice cream.
Thank goodness I work for a company full of Veterans (42% of our company is prior service — including some reservist and national guardsman who are still serving) — people who do believe in honoring our nation and its fine traditions.
Now if you’ll excuse me…I’m going to slip off into a food coma at my desk.

In addition to serving complimentary eats for all customers, Veterans always drink for free in my bar on Veteran’s Day and July 4th.
You’re going to have to let me know where your bar is — somewhere in Houston, if I recall correctly…
Good recall… it’s in Pasadena, on Fairmont near Burke.
Little hole in the wall where everybody knows your name. Literally.
Celebrate early and often, Robbie.
And thank you for your service!
