My favorite Texas liberal, Pink Lady from In The Pink Texas (a.k.a., Eileen Smith of Texas Monthly) isn’t too thrilled about the possibility of Gov. Tim Kaine becoming the VP for the Democrats:
TIM KAINE?! The first-term governor of Virginia? The man who will never live up to his devastatingly handsome predecessor? The guy with zero foreign policy cred? Another Harvard lawyer? A former CATHOLIC missionary? Is this someone’s idea of a JOKE?!
Heh. That’s pretty much how we feel about your (presumtive) Presidential nominee, too.
Big difference: Obama’s not Catholic.

In any case, I think this counts as “foreign policy cred”:
Membership on the Committee for Foreign Relations, the Committee for Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs and Chairman of the Senate’s subcommittee on European Affairs.
There’s absolutely no comparison to the incumbent who had a visit to Mexico under his belt.
They might count if he had been on them for more than just a couple of years. Which he hasn’t.
But I don’t even give him credit for those two years since he’s spent the entirety of his Senate career campaigning for President. It’s not like he actually attends any of these committees.

I think I know what I will find if I look at his other memberships, but as for Chairman Of The Subcommittee On European Affairs, he gets a big zero for cred.
As of January of this year, he has never once held a hearing on this sub, and until his summer camp trip, had never even been to Afghanistan, which is part of his sub’s responsibility, as well as NATO.
I know just having that title is supposed to blind us with his brilliance, and we are only supposed to see the title, not that he is a do-nothing, back-sliding sleaze ball from the Chicago political machine.
