Tony SnowBy now you’ve all heard or read that Tony Snow, 53, has lost his battle with colon cancer.

Tony Snow, the former White House press secretary and conservative pundit who bedeviled the press corps and charmed millions as a FOX News television and radio host, has died after a long bout with cancer. He was 53.

A syndicated columnist, editor, TV anchor, radio show host and musician, Snow worked in nearly every medium in a career that spanned more than 30 years.

“The White House has lost a great friend and a great colleague,” said President Bush’s press secretary and Snow’s former deputy, Dana Perino. “We all loved watching him at the podium, but most of all we learned how to love our families and treat each other.”

Snow joined FOX in 1996 as the original anchor of “FOX News Sunday” and hosted “Weekend Live” and a radio program, “The Tony Snow Show,” before departing in 2006. A sometime fill-in host for Rush Limbaugh, Snow said he loved the intimacy of his radio audience.

“It’s a tremendous loss for us who knew him, but it’s also a loss for the country,” Roger Ailes, chairman of FOX News, said Saturday morning about Snow, calling him a “renaissance man.”

Tony Snow was one of my very favorite political journalists and pundits. The guy was a rock star of a political pundit.

And my admiration of him only grew after watching the grace and dignity he showed when talking about his bout with caner.

Nice Deb notes: “What a transparently good and decent man Tony Snow was. That came through to anyone with an ounce of discernment, whether you were listening to him on his radio show, on Fox News, or as Bush’s Press Secretary.”

But not everyone agreed on Tony Snow being a good and decent man, as the usual suspects on Main Stream Left are using the opportunity to dance on the grave of an honest and decent man.

  • Daily Kos and his diarists? Yep, happy that three young children are now left fatherless (linked to Protein Wisdom who has the quotes, so I don’t have to link to the vileness myself).
  • Think Progress? Yep…check out the comments who are also doing their own little death dance.

Sickening and pathetic. And totally expected.

  1. Those people have no moral core, and that’s why they’re so profoundly lost.

  2. I hope no similar comments will be allowed here by the usual suspects.

  3. I went to HuffPo yesterday morning and found they at least had the decency to close any comments on the subject.

Bless him, prayers of support for his family. What a great man.

  4. I always enjoyed Tony, and am saddened that the cancer he fought so fiercely, finally claimed him.
Whether it was on tv or on the radio, he always made mention of his family, and his love for them. He said more than once, the term he loved to hear more in life each day was “daddy.”
As a political commentator, he was an unabashed conservative, after having been a liberal democrat early in his adult life, and approached subjects with diligent preparation, and geniality. He was never acerbic towards those he disagreed with, which is one of the things about him that impressed me so much.
I don’t care what those loons on the left have to say about such a quality person. His fight to live, his work, and his loving family are the true legacies of his life.
I will miss him, and can feel the loss his departure has meant to so many.
My deepest and most profound sympathies to his loving wife, and the children he adored more than anything else.

  5. I hope the PGR are allowed to honor Tony, as the Westboro Church is planning one of their gleeful grave stomps for his funeral.
Apparently those nut jobs don’t like devout Catholics.
