Cheatin’ Child from China wins bronze
I stayed up until just after midnight last night watching the US women pawn the Chinese Cheaters in the All Around Gymnastics competition.
I know it makes me a bad person, but I was openly rooting for the Chinese Adolescents to fall down and fail.
Nastia Liukin is my favorite Olympian so far this year…great story, great composure, real emotions, and amazingly better than anybody else on the floor last night.
Nastia became only the third US woman to win the All Around gold. The other two, Mary Lou Retton and Carly Patterson — like Nastia — are all Texans, too boot.
When these Olympics are over, everyone will be talking about Michael Phelps likely 8 gold medals. But the face of these Olympics for me will be Nastia.
And Shawn Johnson winning the silver over Yang Yilin of China? Just gravy.
American Nastia Liukin has broken China’s stranglehold in the gymnastics competition to win the women’s all-around Olympic gold medal.
The 18-year-old put in a dazzling display on all four apparatus to win the title with a score of 63.325 and emulate the feat of fellow Americans Mary Lou Retton and Carly Patterson.
The best part of NBC’s coverage so far? Former coach Béla Károlyi and his unabashed love of gymnastics and especially for his adopted country of the United States.

Are those stands full? I’ve heard they have had trouble filling seats for a myriad of reasons.
