A couple of suggestions:

  1. If a cop is pointing a gun at you and tells you to put down your sword, PUT DOWN YOUR SWORD.
  2. Don’t threaten a cop with a sword in the first place.

If you fail to follow this advice, do not be surprised when this happens:

A Houston police officer shot a man who was wielding a sword at him Saturday night, officials said.

Police found the man in a driveway in the 3300 block of Hastings. The man, whose name was not released, approached police with the sword.

Officers retreated, asking the man to put down the weapon. Police said the man continued to advance toward the officers.

One of the officers shot him once in the chest.

It’s a fucking sword, seriously. I doubt the man knew how to use it. A tazer would have been a better use of force.

Too many variables. The taser can’t miss, it has to penetrate clothing, and it has to be effective in immobilizing the suspect, and all the while the suspect is advancing on the officer with a weapon. No thanks.

A knife can do a lot of damage, by cutting and stabbing.
A sword can lop things off.
Sounds kind of like a “blue suicide.”

Hey, dill!

Deadly force has to be met with deadly force. Period.

Taser, my ass.

Cops did the right thing.

Got something you want to say?
