It’s an insult to women to imply they will vote for someone only because she is a woman. If McCain wants to choose a woman, then why not choose someone who could be president? Kay Bailey Hutchison is infinitely more qualified.

Hillary supporters and Sarah Palin: a first indication.

That hillaryclintonformum.com site is still closed to lurkers, and last time I was there I saw at least 400 comments, probably many more, 99% whooping and cheering Palin, promising to donate, volunteer, and vote Republican for the first time in their lives. There were several comments about Rice and Powell, excoriating the Dems for hypocricy for ever having accused Republicans of being racists and sexists, professing the realization that it’s the Dems that are the real bigots, etc., etc. Truly a sight to see.

I’m very surprised you are encouraging such a cheap trick.

Palin would have been 101st on the list of possible VP’s if the democrats hadn’t had a battle between a black man and a white woman for presidential candidate.

On this occasion, the republicans have done nothing more than try and copy the Democrats. The only difference is, Obama and Clinton where candidates because thy where the best people for the job. Palin was selected because she was a woman.

Now, lets see. 88% black vote for Kerry. If you ‘ever took’ a statistics class or a college math class of about any type, you would have at least a basic understanding of a normal distribution. A big spike on the left side of the graph says one-mindedness, not diversity. Suppose you give us your theory of racial politics. My people are not bounded by the color of their skin.

Karl Rove, for one, thinks the choice was ‘intensely political‘:

Rove continued: “So if he were to pick Governor Kaine, it would be an intensely political choice where he said, `You know what? I’m really not, first and foremost, concerned with, is this person capable of being president of the United States.”

Yawn. One, it’s not a bridge to nowhere; it was going to be a bridge to the airport that moves 200,000 passengers, plus cargo, a year. Two, she canned the project less than a year later because it had become too costly. Three, Obamamamamama voted for the bill.

Let’s just guarantee Hillary Clinton and the Dems will have the White house for 30 consecutive years if the McCain/ Palin ticket wins…because if they get in and the economy continues to plummet (although not their fault they will be blamed for sure) trade deficit increases, dollar gets weaker, war does not end…Dems will with out a doubt usher in a new Clinton administration in 2012 and it will endure for decades because people will no longer be willing to trust the Repubs. And I will go a step further it will usher in another third party and the Repubs will be fighting for their very political lives…thusly the Repubs will win the battle and lose the war

What a great country we live in where we can exchange ideas and opinions and vote as we please! I, myself, am voting democrat. However, aside from just the issues, I had to ask myself and God forbid, if something happens to McCain (72 years old) will Sarah Palin be fit to the run the country? I certainly don’t think so at this stage in her life/work experience. Has anyone really stopped to think? Yes, it’s great to see a woman succeed but she is not ready to run a country. I just hope that folks will not get caught up in all of the hoopla and excitment and really put some thought into this vote.

[Editor --- Kathy, I'm blown away by people who say this, and then turn around and say that they are voting for Obama for President (not VP like Palin, but President)...despite the fact that he has substantially less political experience than she does.

Sarah palin was a pick to get votes. Let me be very clear i am not addressing her qualifications, I am looking at this strategically. From the democratic race we learned that “white women”(not women of color) can effect what happens in a race if there is someone they can identify with. In HR we call it the “like me syndrome”. It’s the propensity of a recruiter to pick someone that is more like them without really looking to who may be most qualified. This is what HR professionals try and work against, but it is the norm.

Palin represents an image of a working-class mom that can bring home tha bacon and fry it! This is something that white woman can identify with. not to say thay woomen of color can’t, but that is not the target market. So if this pick provides a solid base for Mccain to go after his traditional independent voters and also pick up some conversatives that like her position.

Let’s be clear that if mccain wanted a true conservative with proven record of experience Mark sanford would have been a better choice. If he wanted a woman with exprience he could of picked Kay Hutchinson. Palin was a pick to win the election and not as a sounding board or confidant.

And I say that is brillant political move! Again this is politics, and politics are about winning. As for Palin being selected gov. of Alaska I see it just like when ventura won in Mn. People were fed up with the status quo in goverment and someone had a patfrom for something different, that spoke for heart, and people could relate to. This is not to say she didn’t do well with her on the job training as governer. And I know she was a mayor. but really, a town of 5000? Come on people. Braddock HS in Dade county has 5,380 students, does that give the principle executive experience? Ventura was a mayor of a town of 60,ooo BTW becore being elected gov. (independent and reform party)

It’s great the Palin’s chose life for their youngest son, but do you really think his Mom is very involved in caring for him? She knows what it’s like to give birth to a special needs child, but due to her professional choices, this child is being raised by someone else than his mother. Is this a conservative decision? I don’t think she truly knows the mental, emotional and physical challenges that mothers and caregivers of special needs children deal with on a daily basis.
Unfortunately, her family life is very hypocritical of “values” the Republicans want to believe they stand for. How many Republicans wouldn’t love to have children who turned out as well as Chelsea Clinton. But it’s amazing how people can make any situation fit their needs.
