Spending part of the afternoon watching US Open Tennis, where 29th-seeded Sybille Bammer just defeated 12-seated Marion Bartoli three sets (7-6, 0-6, 6-4) to advance to the round of 16.
After the match the announcers noted that the 28-year old from Austria is the only remaining player in the women’s draw who is also a mother (her 7-year old daughter Tina came out to congratulate her after the match).
Which is a pretty cool story. Bammer is one of only three moms on the WTA — American Lindsay Davenport and Paraguaian Rossana De Los Rios are the other two.
Though I’m sure — if they’re reactions and smears of Gov. Sarah Palin are any indication — rabid Obamaniacs will insist that either:
- She should withdraw from the match and stay home to raise her kid…how dare her have it all: career and motherhood. How dare she think she can win the US Open while her child languishes unattended to at hom, or
- That her daughter probably really isn’t hers anyway.

Fair enough- those are two vile criticisms. Of course, they are limited to anonymous internet posts and hardly match what Obama receives from ‘legitimate’ opinion sources.
