I’m not watching the DNC tonight — my wife was more than gracious enough to let me watch the Hillary speech last night, and I wasn’t going to push it by insisting we watch Bill tonight, too.

We went and watched Bill campaign for Hillary here in Austin back in February. Neither one of like the man, but damned if he isn’t a great speaker. I was so caught up in it, that the moment it ended, not only did I applaud, but when he walked by me with his hand out, I reached out and shook it.

So, I had little doubt that his speech tonight would be anything but outstanding.

And, after reading the reports of those who did watch it, not only does it sound like he blew Hillary’s speech away—but that Barry is going to have a helluva time topping it too.

However, here’s where I think this speech hurts Obama: Obama cannot compete rhetorically. Bill Clinton’s timing, charm, and ability to work a crowd is really unparalleled. And Bill hit a home run. How will Biden and Obama compete? I don’t know that they can. Again, the two most energetic people so far (who aren’t complete crazies ala Kucinich) have the names Clinton.

It’s no wonder that many are calling this the “Clinton Convention”.

If you watched it, what did you think?

One Response to “Bill Clinton at the DNC — I Didn’t Watch It”

  1. I enjoyed it more than vintage ‘I feel your pain’ Clinton.
