Ace refers to The Atlantic as, “that gay gossip site and antisemitic conspiracy newsletter”. Which has the benefit of being both funny and true.
Ace should have also added “in the tank for Obama” to describe the 151-year old rag.
Which is the reason that they hired photographer Jill Greenberg, a rabid and slightly more-than unhinged Democrat, to shoot Sen. John McCain for their upcoming cover, shown here.
Even Greenberg was surprised that the magazine would hire somebody with an open and well-publicized hatred of Sen. McCain:
I am a pretty hard core Democrat. Some of my artwork has been pretty anti-Bush, so maybe it was somewhat irresponsible for them [The Atlantic] to hire me.
But the image that ended up on the cover is not the one that Greenberg hoped the Atlantic would use:
After getting that shot, Greenberg asked McCain to “please come over here” for one more set-up before the 15-minute shoot was over. There, she had a beauty dish with a modeling light set up. “That’s what he thought he was being lit by,” Greenberg says. “But that wasn’t firing.”
What was firing was a strobe positioned below him, which cast the horror movie shadows across his face and on the wall right behind him. “He had no idea he was being lit from below,” Greenberg says. And his handlers didn’t seem to notice it either. “I guess they’re not very sophisticated,” she adds.

Uh, huh. McCain and his people are the ones lacking in sophistication. Rigggggghhhhhht…
I think it would be much more accurate to state that Ms. Greenberg lacks a little class.
Oh, and guess which candidate the wife of The Atlantic’s owner donated $28,500 to? Uh, huh. You know without even clicking the link, don’t you?
No agenda at The Atlantic. No narrative their trying to sell.
________
Ironically enough, I can’t find a single image of Ms. Jill Greenberg herself on the internet to mock. If you have an image of Jill herself, could you please send me a copy or a link. I’m going to have some Photoshop fun if I can find one.

UPDATE — The Atlantic responds, and tries to pretend that they are surprised and upset that the unhinged moonbat they hired to photograph McCain went all Liberal at the opportunity:
I don’t know Greenberg (I count this as a blessing) and I can add nothing to what James Bennet told the Post except to say that Greenberg is quite obviously an indecent person who should not be working in magazine journalism. Every so often, journalists become deranged at the sight of certain candidates, and lose their bearings. Why, this has even happened in the case of John McCain once or twice. What I find truly astonishing is the blithe way in which she has tried to hurt this magazine.
Sorry, Jeffery … but I don’t buy your feigned outrage.

What a whackjob: Greenberg’s End Times, a series of photographs featuring toddlers, was the subject of controversy in 2006. The work featured stylized hyper real closeups of children’s faces contorted by various emotional distresses. The pieces were titled to reflect Greenberg’s frustration with both the Bush administration and Christian Fundamentalism in the United States. The method for getting the children to cry (achieved by offering the children candy and suddenly taking it away) spurred allegations of unethical conduct and provoked the submission of numerous complaints to the art gallery that hosted a public showing of Greenberg’s work.
