My wife went and picked up some political support yard signs for our front yard today. We were only able to get a McCain/Palin sign and a Sen. John Cornyn sign — the Travis County Republican Party was out of Rep. Mike McCaul signs.
In 2004, our Bush/Cheney signs were stolen and or destroyed too many times to count. The ever-so-tolerant Left actually isn’t as tolerant as they seem. Thus the high-incident of vandalism (like my keyed car) that have GOP or Conservative bumper stickers on them.
So, to make sure that our McCain/Palin and Sen. Cornyn signs are not damaged or stolen, we’ve placed a little theft deterrent system this year:

Good idea.
Liberals fear the thought of being licked to death.
That’s too (cute) fierce!!!
We’ve pulled our signs in… Winds picking up! So is the Ciroc!
Good to see that you put the “real” guard dog next to your McCain-Palin sign. Great Danes may be large, but they are NOT effective, in my opinion, for “guarding” anything… Saying this with first-hand, personal experience… We have a Great Dane and a Standard Poodle. Everyone we meet – everyone HE meets – says, “Oh, what a big dog!” Yeah. He’s big. Children, here, are afraid of him. Got news for them. It’s the little one that they need to be afraid of. The GD is a just a big cuddly teddy bear who has NO idea that he is not a lap dog!!!
Just a suggestion,
get a large planter box, fill it with good soil, place your signs, then put a nice friendly looking bunch of poison ivy around it.
You may still lose your signs, but whomever takes them will have something other than a political itch to scratch.
(cactus makes a nice landscape item too)

Love your sign security system!!
In 2000 and 2004, my family and I never had issues with our Bush/Cheney signs being stolen or damaged. I have since moved out on my own and unfortunately my McCain/Palin sign lasted 3 days before it was burned to the ground overnight this past weekend. Although I expected my sign to be stolen or damaged, I was shocked to see that it has actually been set on fire. I have since ordered a 10 pack of signs from the McCain site and will put a replacement sign out each time one is destroyed. My neighbor has also requested a sign after recieving word of what happened to mine. I am looking for a way to get the word out in the neighborhood and hopefully have more neighbors join in by displaying McCain/Palin yard signs of their own.
Where can I find some of the McCain/Palin signs for the yard? I have ordered bumper stickers off the website, but can not find a local place to get signs?
[Editor --- We got ours at the Travis Country Republican Party office. Try your local county office.]
Hey guys, I’m a journalism student at UT and I’m doing a story about political sign theft. I’d love to interview you briefly over the phone if that’s okay.

[Editor --- Rob, I'll be back in town late Tuesday evening. I'll give you a call sometime on Wednesday if that still works for you.]
