Palin rocked, and really connected with people. She far exceeded the expectations that the media had set out for her, and therefore kicked Joe Biden’s ass up and down the floor.

Best response I’ve read so far, from Mark Levin:

I have been involved in and observed politics for a long time. Governor Palin is a truly unique national figure. She is down to earth, personable, and smart as hell. That’s right. She has been on the national scene for a little over a month, she has been campaigning everywhere, she has had to bone up on all kinds of national issues, and she has shown class throughout. Too often too many are persuaded by the mainstream media’s opinion and react to that. This should be another lesson in that regard. As for some of her populist views, she cannot openly campaign against the positions of her presidential running mate. She is the bright light in this campaign from my perspective.

Eh? I concede that she did better that anyone thought she would, but she still lost to Biden greater experience. Who knows how much she would have lost by if she’d been her usual ‘gaffe’ central self.

[Editor --- The only way to believe that Obiden won is to actually believe all of the lies he told are actually true. Did he debate well? Sure. He's a practiced career politician...he's very accustomed to lying through his teeth while smiling and shaking your hand.]

Shame for you jesus freaks that most independent voters thought Biden won overwhelmingly, and it’s those people who will decide the election. Palin is good and remembering data but with over a month to the election she will no doubt screw up again, it’s just a matter of time.

[Editor --- You mean the 'Undecided" voters polled by CBS News and MSNBC? Uh huh. These idiots have had two years to make up their minds --- anybody who is still undecided at this point is too stupid to be allowed to cast a vote. Which means that they are really Obiden leaners.]

Torie Clarke, who worked with McCain back in Arizona and with the Bush Administration’s Department of Defense, had the following remarks:

“I’m so surprised at what we are talking about before and after the debate. Before the debate the speculation was all on Sarah Palin, how well can she do, can she answer the tough questions? Nobody was paying attention to Joe Biden. I think Joe Biden had his best night tonight. He came with one mission, and that was to go after John McCain, and he did it, backed up by facts. I think he did a better job tonight of tying McCain to the Bush administration than Obama did last week.

Matthew Dowd, who worked for George Bush’s communications team while in the White House, followed Clarke and he too agreed that the Delaware Democrat took the evening.

“I think, you know, I agree with her on this. I think Sarah Palin did reasonably well. The death spiral she has been on for the last week, she survived. She’s lived another day. She did well. But I think, when the polls come out in the next two, three days, Joe Biden won this debate.

Jonny

Mark Levin is one smart cookie.
As far as reactions go, I find it interesting so many are gullible enough to believe polls or surveys have any validity. Honestly, how does any one really know someone is an undecided independent voter? Do they administer lie detector tests?
As for the debate, I heard Biden lying, time and again, and I wasn’t even watching or listening to it that much. One count has fourteen whoppers Biden told, and he doesn’t even know what the Constitution says about the role of the VP or even where in the Constitution. Here is a hack that has been in the Senate for thirty five years, and doesn’t even know the VP is always President of the Senate, and can preside at any time. Also, Article I of the Constitution does not define the Executive Branch, as Biden said, Article II does.
A few other things:
Biden said he has “always” supported clean coal, and that a comment made at a rope line was taken out of context.

Biden said Obama did not say he would meet with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and stated this claim was “simply not true.”

I call bull shit on Biden. Those are only two of the many, but it fits his pattern of lying, and running his mouth on things he neither knows or understands, comfortable in the knowledge that most Americans are too busy or lazy to check the facts.

Polls are polls - mostly independent analysis of reaction to a debate.
I wouldn’t have expected a right-winger to concur with the polls on this occasion, you know the fact that they show the exact opposite of what you want to hear?

Conclusion is there for all to see, whether you want to wear your rightwing tinted glasses or not is your prerogative - you can kid yourselves all you want.

Facts are facts. Biden won this and the Dems took another step into the White House.
Good times America! You’re finally becoming the super power the rest of us can respect!

Jonjon, I think this quote of yours says it all. The rest of the world has America Envy and you want to see it torn down. And you know that a socialist government will put America on that path.
Where is that brilliant shining light John Jarzm? Still reading your talking points to see how this debate is supposed to be spun? I am sure we will be hearing from you, just as soon as mommy wakes you.

Jonjon, I think this quote of yours says it all. The rest of the world has America Envy and you want to see it torn down. And you know that a socialist government will put America on that path.

Such ignorance. But I wouldn’t expect anything else coming from you.
If you cared to see how the rest of the world view you, you might be a tad embarrassed at the above statement Artuen.
The only problem we have is that it looks like our Conservatives over here will be in power pretty soon, which will be a shame.
I’d like to have seen a Brown/Obama partnership for a few years.

There are a lot of things that need to put right after such a long line of cockups from your right wing gun tooting excuse for a president.

I might even have to pay another visit to the good old US of A one day in the near future - when the right wingers have been banished of course. ;-)

On face value, I think he won.
But that’s not I mean when I say Biden won last night.
He won because the polls say so.
And the polls are the people of your country, and therefore the voters in November.

If the election was tomorrow, the Dems would have it.
We’ll just have to make sure they carry on what they’re doing for the next four weeks and then we’ll have a democratic White House again.

Brings a smile to my face.

Jonny

Did you catch the part where the United States and France drove Hezbolla out of Lebanon?

Talk about a gaff of gigantic proportions. That was something only someone with zero knowledge of international affairs and history could have made.

Bidden is an idiot who just says random things that have no basis in reality.

Palin did well. She overcame the clear media bias that had preceded the debates. What she didn’t do was counter many of the false accusations that Biden made, but just ask yourself, what human being could do that other than McCain himself or those who have closely followed his voting record for the past couple of decades? However, Palin did level charges at Obama that Biden couldn’t defend even though Biden was in the Senate himself at the time, an advantage that Palin did not have.

I flipped between Fox and CNN post debate to see the reactions, the focus groups, etc. One wonders if they were watching the same debate.

[Editor --- Except for the fact that it's undeniably and 100% true.]

Oh come on now Robbie - it’s a lovely thought but let’s get realistic.
Unfortunately America isn’t envied by any other country I know. It used to, don’t get me wrong, but I can’t think of one country that actually looks up to America now.
Problem is, it still has this god comlpex - which is now totally unfounded.

Get Obama in office and let’s get back to admiring the international policies of what was once a great country.

Jonny

“Problem is, it still has this god complex - which is now totally unfounded.”

Oh really, Jonny. And what revelation led you to that conclusion? You can’t defend it and you know it. However, I would suggest a little practice is in order cause one of these days you’re going to have to defend it.

I wouldnt come down too hard on Jonny for this one. Well…maybe for his delivery but not so much for the content.

Arguably, the US has lost some popularity over the years with the Euro crowd. Kinda hard to deny based on the media reports we get here in the States. Its a good thing the media outlets in Europe are not biased in anyway ;)

If Jonny has a chance, I hope he could elaborate on his statement. He did come out and say that the US had a right to have a God complex, at one time, but not now. So at what point did the US fall from grace in the eyes of Europe?

Palin didn’t start crying — Biden did.

One of the best parts was when Palin quoted Biden’s words back to him, i.e., that Obama is not qualified to be president and that Biden would be proud to be John McCain’s running mate.

It’s pretty clear that [Instapundit] and the drooling Malkinites in wingnutland are getting ready to blame the corporate media when Obama wins.

The problem with this narrative is that:

a) the GOP has dominated national electoral politics for a decade, in spite of said “liberal media” conspiring to elect Democrats, and;

b) the wingnut bloggers themselves spend lots of time and energy obsessing over the idea that the mainstream media has an ever-diminishing influence/relevance (how many posts has [Instapundit] done this year of the New York Times stock price/circulation figures?)

I’m not sure how they square all of this in their little brains exactly, but it makes my head hurt.

No, if Obama wins, I blame idiots like you, patricia.

Biden said we and Fwance through Hezbollah out of Lebannon. Somebody, please, give that man a history book! Or, ask him what newspapers he reads.

through = threw

Besides Ifill asking questions biased in favor of the Obama campaign, she allowed Biden to continually have the last word and never ever called him on many of his blatant lies.

Biden made it clear that Obama/Biden are hot to trot to step it up in Afganistan and invade Pakistan and Darfur. I thought the moonbats wanted to bring the troops home– not start more wars? Are the moonbats planning on enlisting in droves? Will there be a Code Pink Battalion?

Biden’s Lies About His Blue Collar Roots:

Grandfather a State Senator
Father held the following executive/managerial jobs:
*Sales rep for Amoco Oil Co.
*Execute for Boston based Co. that supplied sealant to US merchant marine ships during WW2
*Co-owner of airport and crop dusting service
*Sales manager for auto dealership
*Real estate condominium sales

Biden himself attended the most expensive prep school in Delaware, yet he fosters this false perception about working class roots. Yech.

Biden claimed that Pakistan could hit Israel with a missile.
However, Israel is over 2000 miles away from Pakistan and it’s longest range missile is only a 1000. So, is Biden lying? Or, just stupid?

Who Factchecks the Liberal Factcheckers?

CNN reports that it’s “misleading” to say that Barack Obama pledged to meet with Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: “While Obama has said he wouldn’t rule out meeting with any foreign leader, he never specifically said he’d meet with the Iranian president.”

Not quite:

Reporter: Senator you’ve said before you’d meet with president Ahmadinejad…
Obama (nodding): Uh Huh
Reporter: … would you still meet with him today?
Obama: Nothing’s changed with respect to my belief that strong countries and strong presidents talk to their enemies and talk to their adversaries.

Obama Confirms He Would Meet With the Amadnejidad

How to make idiots think you’ve won a debate: Make $h*t Up.

Biden claimed that the United States spends more in Iraq in three weeks than it has in total in Afghanistan. In fact, Biden repeated this claim x2 maybe x3.

The truth:
US spends about 8 billion in 3 weeks in Iraq.
US has authorized 172 billion for Afghanistan.

Biden claimed that Bush and the Iraqis have adopted the strategy of Obama, i.e, a 16 month timeline for withdrawal and is not based on any conditions.

The truth:
The administration and Maliki have a target date for the end of 2011 and it is conditions based.

Biden claims there is no difference between McCain and Bush onn policy toward Israel, Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The truth:
There is no difference between Obama and the Bush administration policies, either.

Biden claims Obama never agreed to meet unconditionally with Ahmadinejad.

The truth:
Obama said he would do so in a debate question a year ago.
His position has not changed if you are to believe his own campaign website:
Obama supports, tough, direct, presidential diplomacy without preconditions.

The rest of the world has America Envy and you want to see it torn down

JonJon, I have spent plenty of time in europe, what a socialist cesspool.I might just know what I am talking about. Of course you english are so caught up in empire guilt (can you say Gandhi?) you might as well go shoot yourselves if only your benevolent government had not taken your guns away and now are trying to take your knives away so you cannot slit your wrists. How about a sharia court? Got one in your ‘hood yet? Coming soon, bitch. Maybe they can stone you to death and your guilt (and your thread hijacking) will be relieved.
Thanks for the back-up N2.
Now, where the hell is the little spoiled brat,TalkingPoints?

read all the comments, funny stuff, right from the horses mouth.

Here ya go, some bedtime reading for the superior euro weens. JonJon? ya out there man?

Biden, please read the US Constitution:

Biden claimed: “Article I of the Constitution defines the role of the Vice President of the United States. That’s the executive. He works in the executive branch. He should understand that. Everyone should understand that.”

Wrong! Neither Article I nor Article II define the vice president’s executive role in that the vice president has no role within the executive branch except to succeed the president in case of death or incapacity.

Biden claimed: “The constitution is explicit, the only authority the Vice President has from a legislative standpoint is to vote only when there is a tie vote. He has no authority relative to the Congress.”

Wrong! The vice president is granted special authority reserved to no other, unless the vice president chooses to let the senate pick a president pro temp in his absence.

Again, it is easy to make idiots (leftards and the msm) think you’ve won a debate if you make shit up.

I wouldnt come down too hard on Jonny for this one. Well…maybe for his delivery but not so much for the content.

Hi HeavyGabe and thank you for the invite to follow on from my original post.
One thing I need to make clear from the off is that ‘England’ (yes, England, not Great Britain for some reason) see ourselves to be no way connected to Europe. Yes, we are geographically on the door step, but the political and sociological aspect is far removed.
Personally, having visited every country in Europe and enjoyed the multi faceted aspects of each country, I think GB entering Europe would be a good thing - if only to experience the wines and culture I was honoured enough to witness in Italy (even if I had to pull a hog from the Villa swimming pool on a frosty morning!).

Anyway, to further my point Heavy Gabe I have to tell you that I was raised in Boston, and moved to Santa Monica (California) when I was five. We left soon after and came back to the UK when my father was threatened with a gun in a call box - long story, don’t ask!

My time of being in the US and also the time thereafter upon my return to the UK, I loved the US with all my heart.
Call it an immature fondness, but the fact I could wake and walk down to lake winnipesaukee in the mornings made my life complete.
To have to live in a two up two down upon my return bothered me somewhat.

I loved the free thinking attitude of America at that time.
I loved the fact that we weren’t being ‘invaded’ or attacked by anybody else.
I loved the fact I could walk from the swimming pool to the front lawn without feeling I had to cover up.
I loved the smiles of the neighbours and I loved the honesty of my surroundings.

I honestly get upset to read stories where people now defend their property with ‘guns and ammo’.
I despair at the the thought of young Americans claiming a possession that is not only not theirs for the taking, but is also something they could never aspire to have within their framework of where and how they were brought up.

What happened? Why is America so vengeful against those they know nothing about when they should be spending so much more time trying to retain that beautiful ethic that made America what it once was?

I love America. That’s why I’m here. You know, the only English ‘Euroweenie-buttboy-poof’ that is bothered enough to shake of the crap thrown at me, with the aim and the hope to understand what is going on in rural America to justify this turn of event.

Believe me, I could peacefully sit at home, stroke my cat and enjoy a nice Shiraz by the open fire.
I choose to be the minority here because I am interested in what this one remaining beautiful country has to offer.

Call me old fashioned. ;-)

Jonny

I choose to be the minority here because…

Biden Wants Court to Have the Power to Reset Mortgage Principle

Too dumb for words:

“Number two, with regard to bankruptcy now, Gwen, what we should be doing now — and Barack Obama and I support it — we should be allowing bankruptcy courts to be able to re-adjust not just the interest rate you’re paying on your mortgage to be able to stay in your home, but be able to adjust the principal that you owe, the principal that you owe.”

Ok, good news. The $700 billion plan has now been passed.
I said 73 would pass the bill on Wednesday (74 did, 1 out) and I said that the bill would be passed on Friday (and it has been).

Now lets see the recovery that I expect to happen.

N2L - I actually kinda liked you. Million miles apart on our opinions but I respected your intelligence on such matters. Be good, and try not to be to overwhelming with those whom may need guidance rather than authority.

Dianne - you seem very sweet and I respect your POV on most things.

A Twice Told Lie

Crazy Biden claims: “John McCain voted to cut off funding for the troops. Let me say that again. John McCain voted against an amendment containing $1 billion, $600 million that I had gotten to get MRAPs, those things that are protecting the governor’s son and pray God my son and a lot of other sons and daughters. He voted against it. He voted against funding because he said the amendment had a time line in it to end this war.”

The truth:
Biden’s amendment appropriating $1.5 billion to buy MRAPs (Mine Resistant Armor Protected vehicles) for the Marine Corps passed the Senate March 29, 2007, by a vote of 98-0. McCain was one of the 98 “aye” votes.

Through out the debate Biden would emphatically repeat a lie twice. It’s an old rhetorical and dishonest trick that works on leftards and the MSM.

Now lets see the recovery that I expect to happen.

Market tanked after it was signed. Looks like it lost 500 points. That’s some recovery you predicted. lol!

Robbie; great blog! You have done fantastically well with this and I hope you continue to do so well in all you do.
You’re truly an aspiration to anyone with an interest in a narrative observation of current affairs. Live long and prosper!

What?
No threats directed at Robbie?
No calling Robbie a dumb redneck?
No calling Robbie a racist? A fascist?

Somebody must have stolen the brit’s moniker.

What don’t democrats and the MSM understand about conflicts of interest?

The media has no problem sending scores of reporters to Alaska to go through Sarah Palin’s garbage, but can’t report that Herb Moses, Barnie Frank’s “wife”, is an executive with Frannie Mae. This is insane.

So, is Biden lying? Or, just stupid?

YES!
/brevity

Thanks for the back-up N2.

I did what to whom?

Biden Wants Court to Have the Power to Reset Mortgage Principle

It’s not Biden, though he supports it, but it is B-HO that is driving this idea.
And now it is hidden in the disastrous legislation that throws nearly a trillion dollars at a problem Congress created. B-HO called James Clyburn of the Congressinal Black Caucus, and assured him that the Assistance to Homeowners’ Plan in the bailout bill would provide for this very thing. Clyburn was then able to convince some of the donks in the Caucus to change their vote to a yes.
Section 110 of the Assistance to Homeowners Plan:

General. To the extent that the Federal property manager holds, owns, or controls mortgages, mortgage backed securities, and other assets secured by residential real estate, including multifamily housing, the Federal property manager shall implement a plan that seeks to maximize assistance for homeowners and use its authority to encourage the servicers of the underlying mortgages, and considering net present value to the taxpayer, to take advantage of the HOPE for Homeowners Program under section 257 of the National Housing Act or other available programs to minimize foreclosures.
In the case of a residential mortgage loan, modifications made under paragraph (1) may include: (A) reduction in interest rates; (B) reduction of loan principal; and (C) other similar modifications.

Section 110 turns the real estate market over to the federal government.
This legislation is worse than a crap sandwich.

Facts are facts.

Yeah, facts are facts but you don’t have the intelligence to determine the difference between a fact and a lie. Biden lied repeatedly. And if you were honest, and you never are, you would admit the left’s lying is irrelevant to you. All you care about is your ‘hate America’ meme.

Democrats Talk About Charity, While Conservatives Give.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin made considerably less money than rival Sen. Joe Biden, but the Palin family gave more to charity in the last two years than Biden has in the last eight combined, according to Palin’s tax records released Friday afternoon. …

In 2006, the Palins paid $11,944 in taxes on $127,869 in income. In 2007, they paid $24,738 on $166,080.

But in 2006, they donated $4,880 to charity, and in 2007, they donated $3,325.

By contrast, Biden (D-Del.), Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama’s running mate, has donated a total of $3,690 since 1998 despite his higher Senate salary, according to an analysis posted by National Review.

…..

Once again, we see that liberals talk about charity, and conservatives take action. The Palins have been quite generous with their cash, while Biden has given far less on an annual basis with a much larger income stream. Since the two Democrats keep claiming the charitable impulse for spending other people’s money, it’s revealing to once again compare Biden’s own personal giving to his political rhetoric, and to his opponent in November.

[As I remember it, the Obamas are also pretty cheap when it comes to charity considering their income.]

http://hotair.com/archives/2008/10/04/the-charity-gap/

Yep, liberals love other people’s money.

Biden Lied About Being For Clean Coal

Biden claimed: “My record for 25 years has supported clean coal technology. A comment made in a rope line was taken out of context. I was talking about exporting that technology to China so when they burn their dirty coal, it won’t be as dirty, it will be clean.”

The truth: Biden’s either a liar and/or stupid. Nothing was taken out of context. He stated that “we are not supporting clean coal” and “no coal plants in America” Listen to his own words here: Link

Ahhh, jonjon, I know and we all know, you’re lurking out there. So busy pointing out our supposed flaws when you come from a deeply flawed, dying society.
I remember back in the 70’s (last time I was in Europe) every movie on TV had a riot scene and an American sailor got beat up in the riot every time. Yeah, the envy of free people by vassals runs deep…………long live freedom.

Obama hired Powers after she shared that her ultimate aim is to send a massive American or Western force into Israel to stop what she believes Israeli genocide against the Palestinians, to neutralize the Israeli Defense Force, and to protect the forces of Fatah and Hamas.
