The kiddies at Burnt Orange Report — Texas’ leading Democrat Progressive Liberal (or whatever it is they’re calling themselves these days) political blog — are feigning shock and outrage that the Young Conservatives of Texas (YTC) are endorsing all Republicans in this year’s elections.
A quick read through the BOR archives and recent postings, and…wait for it…(even though you already know it’s coming, don’t you?)…it appears that the kids running the blog from their dorms and apartments on UT’s campus are endorsing all Democrats.
Oh. The. Horror.
In other news, 99% of all UT students supported the Longhorns in last week’s Red River Shootout.
Of course the BOR kiddies try to pimp their bipartisan street cred by claiming they have previously endorsed Republican candidates. But even the two links that they provided don’t substantiate a claim of having endorsed Republicans. They merely propped up two moderate Republicans amongst their list of “Texans of the Year” several years ago. I wouldn’t be surprised if they endorsed those two Republican’s opponents in the previous elections, though.
But hey, when you’ve grown so accustomed to losing every single state-wide elected office — with no end in sight — you probably start losing your grip on sanity a little bit more every day. Until you graduate and eventually become gainfully employed (and thus the gradual turn towards conservativism), or you keep slipping further and further away from reality until you end up as a college professor or a member of the media.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they endorsed those two Republican’s opponents in the previous elections, though.
Carolyn Boyle never held public office, AFAIK. And I’m not really sure where they got the idea she was Republican, either (moderate or not). Her PAC supported both Republicans and Democrats, but that proves nothing.
The BOR never had the chance to support Casteel’s opponent, as she lost the 2006 primary.
Interesting…
Can’t say they are anti-Obama per se. They have article supporting him.
That is interesting.
An expectation of racism, by one who is race obsessed.
Wow, sensitive much? Has the prospect of electoral losses at every level turned Republicans so sour they miss the unstated ironic humor of the post? Talk about losing sanity.
I know it’s hard to hang on in Travis County when you face the prospect of having only one elected Republican officeholder left come November 5th…only because their not up for election until 2010. Assuming they don’t switch parties next year.
Guess you’ll be further let down to know that no one who writes for BOR lives in a dorm at UT and that the editorial staff graduated years ago.
[Editor --- Nope. Not sensitive at all. In fact, I'm often accused of having little to no sensitivity at all.
I was just mocking you kids for your bald-faced hypocrisy and faux outrage. So, which Republican candidate(s) is BOR endorsing this year?
Didn't realize that ya'll had graduated already. Congrats on that.]
Apparently, you live under a bridge.
Oh, is that where I live? Under a bridge. No wonder I’m always cold. I thought it was b/c I was getting my master’s in public policy from the JFK school at Harvard, and it’s cold up here in MA.
But no, it must be because I live under a bridge. Thank goodness anonymous, faceless commenters know that, because otherwise they’d have to create a false sense of superiority some other way.
[Editor --- Wow. Harvard. Very impressive (sorry, could you hear me snickering from down here in the boonies). Feign surprise that another liberal elitist is about to thrust himself into public policy.
Good luck with that.
Wow. Harvard...]
I thought it was b/c I was getting my master’s in public policy from the JFK school at Harvard, and it’s cold up here in MA.
That makes more sense. You gonna be a community organizer when you get a job?
Unimpressed. In fact, my friends and I use to joke years ago about how when people don’t know what to do with their lives after experiencing a crushing defeat, they go get a masters in public policy from JFK. True story.
No, it’s because you’re a troll, oh humorless one. And, I’m no more anonymous than the initials BOR you signed you initial post with. As to having a false sense of superiority, I believe you’ve demonstrated that by your announcement that you are at Harvard. lol!
[Editor --- In all fairness to the BOR guys, they're not trolls...I wrote about them, and they merely are responding to the post I wrote directly about them. And BOR and Philip Martin's respective comments came from different IPs and I have no reason to believe Phillip wrote them both. I suspect that the initial BOR comment was written by Karl Musselman.]
He must be doing research on those low-information voters who seem to have already forgotten who Jeremiah Wright is.
Martin responded to a remark directed at BOR as if he was BOR. Therefore, I have no reason to believe they are not the same person. If they do not want to be mistaken for the same person, maybe, one should not answer for the other.
Jeesh, patty, is that all you got? lol!
re: Snowed In
Carolyn Boyle’s PAC (the Texas Parent PAC, for those following along at home) definitely supported “Republicans” in the 2006 primary (notably Diane Patrick against Kent Grusendorf, for example), but one could make the argument that the entire purpose of doing so was to support “Republicans” who would kowtow to TASB and support the Democratic Party’s positions on issues like school choice.
This general election cycle, the most notable support Parent PAC has given is to Donnie Dippel, the D running against (and likely to lose against) R Tim Kleinschmidt for Robby Cook’s old seat. Dippel was endorsed by the Statesman primarily for being anti-school choice.
Can’t say if Boyle has ever run for or held public office, but she was at one point heavily involved with the PTA and held a prominent lobby position before starting the Parent PAC.
Here’s what I don’t understand:
Why make the personal attacks on BOR? If we’re so useless, why is there focus on our site? If we’re so unimportant, so stupid, so laughable and worthy of your mocking — why write about us? What’s the purpose?
We got a trackback link that we’d gotten traffic from this site, so I visited to see what was up. Instead of intelligent conversation that you see at places like Lone Star Times or Old Government Road, it’s a series of commenters that want to mock the fact that we’re young and pursue graduate degrees. What’s wrong with an excited youth base? What’s wrong with pursuing a graduate degree?
I don’t assume the editors, authors, or commenters on this blog are stupid, live under bridges, or anything close to that. I do, however, do three things over at BOR:
1) Respect our commenters and engage in them positively unless given reason otherwise
2) Defend myself from stupid personal attacks
3) Allow those who disagree with me to do so without my imposing an “editor note” atop the comment
Finally — thanks for linking to us. We appreciate the traffic. If, in the future, we see some coherent posts that are honest about the state of Texas politics (like our Report was, predicting R’s leading in all statewide races), we’ll do the same.
Because you sound silly and immature .
Because posting in a comment, for no apparent reason, that you are a grad student at Harvard is pompous asshole-ery and mockworthy.
Unlike modestly posting a picture of your well-fed corpus on a ten-speed bike on your own weblog.
[Editor --- My bike is 18 speed, thank you very much. And my well-fed "corpus" was able to ride that bike 150 miles through some beautiful Texas hill-country. Passed up a lot of skinny granola eaters all along the way.]
Yes, patty. Only a pompous asshole like you would find an announcement that someone is participating in a charity bike ride and asking for donations to combat a horrible disease, that even afflicts moonbats like you, mockworthy.
