Karl Thomas-Musselman: Noriega and Strama’s Campaign Wants to “Destroy Republican Party”

Karl Thomas-MUsselmanI really want to believe that State Rep. Rick Noriega (D-TX) is a decent, honorable man. I give him this benefit of the doubt almost entirely because he is a Lt. Col. in the Texas Army National Guard.

That carries a lot of weight with me.

Which makes some of the tactics from his campaign hard to stomach.

Like this: Noriega’s official Online Campaign Director, Karl Thomas Musselman, left an interesting comment at the angry and unhinged Liberal blog site Daily Kos:

This election is our chance to destroy the Republican Party and its leadership.

On the campaign trail, Mr. Noriega has stated that he wants to represent all Texans. However wanting to destroy the party that represents the majority of our state’s citizens, doesn’t exactly sound like ALL Texans to me.

It sounds more like he’s only interested in representing Democrats and Liberals.

Rob Jessmer from Sen. John Cornyn’s campaign emailed me to add:

Weeks ago, we announced our intention to run a positive campaign and asked Rick Noriega to join us. He pointedly rejected our request. We knew his campaign would resort to slinging mud, but even we underestimated the depths on his anger.

In debates, and in his political appearances when news media are present, Noriega claims he will work to bring people together. But that is merely for public consumption. The reality, it turns out, is quite different. He apparently hopes to unite us by destroying and eliminating all those who have a different opinion than him.

Mr. Noriega should publicly denounce Karl Thomas-Mussleman. And then fire him.

Karl Thomas is also the Campaign Manager for Rep. Mark Strama (D-TX). I wonder if Rep. Strama agrees with his campaign manager’s desire to “destroy the Republican party?”

Rep. Strama should fire Karl Thomas, too.

Unless of course that is how Mr. Noriega and Mr. Strama feel…

I would email the Strama and Noriega campaigns to ask for a comment, but I’m sure Mr. Musselman would be the one to receive the emails, and thus I’d never get an honest answer (or any answer for that matter).

_______

Karl-Thomas is one of the publisher of the liberal political blog Burnt Orange Report.

I believe that he’s commented here at Urbangrounds anonymously at least three times (using the alias BOR once instead of his actual name). Which is awesome since his own blog doesn’t allow anonymous comments.

  3. You know, I almost never vote straight ticket — there are usually a few Libertarians and the occasional Democrat I vote for.

Not this year though — no dicking around. I went for the straight Republican ballot.

I didn’t even vote for Country Tax Assessor Nelda Wells Spears (D), who I have voted for in the past (to include her last re-election campaign).

What this country needs is less political diversity and bi-partisanship and a whole lot more conservative leadership.

  4. I reached the same conclusion as you, Robbie, at about the same age you are now.
I had always been a donk, until someone decided to reach into a hog wallow in Arkansas, hose off what it found, and trotted it out to run for President. That was the last straw, after years of constantly being disappointed in the constant shift further to the left. I dabbled with the libertarians, but some of their issues, like legalizing drugs, was just to far out there. When I finally got past the years of propaganda of all Republicans are evil, and realized that the one’s who promulgated that nonsense, were indeed the evil ones, I was able to listen to the GOP issues with a clear head, and have voted straight ticket ever since.
Too many times I voted for good men and women that were donks, but they were turned by their leadership, into someone I didn’t recognize.
I agree with your last sentence completely.
I hear That One claim how he is going to unify this country. That would be a neat trick, seeing as how he dislikes and disrespects over half the population of this country. There is nothing he could say or do, short of having an epiphany and becoming a conservative, that could ever convince me to agree with his bullshit view of this country. In fact, I haven’t listened to him, other than sound bites, in months, and I never will again, irrespective of whether he gets the election, or not. I know more about him than I ever wanted to, and he is anathema to what this country has stood for, for 232 years.

  5. So, is it okay to advocate for the destruction of Karl Thomas Musselman?
