Great interview with Ted Nugent over at Red County (where I am also a contributing blogger). A couple of quips:
What would you say to undecided voters as to why they should vote for John McCain and not Barack Obama?
A dedicated review of each man’s voting record provides irrefutable evidence that McCain is a leader and Obama is determined to turn America into a suburb of France. The choice is ours.
If the powers that be decide to do away with our Second Amendment rights, I imagine you would be one of the first people to receive a knock at the door. What kind of response could they expect from you?
Lead first!
Amen to that Ted. The first person who comes for my guns will be shot. And I’ll keep shooting ’till I’m out of lead or dead.

Classic Ted!
Talented as he is, I’d ask Ted Nugent what fantasy world he lives in where he thinks any politician is ever going to take his gun away. The NRA lobby and heartland constituents are way too strong in this country for anything as radical as complete eradication of the 2nd amendment to ever happen.
Similarly, I get kind of tired of people on my side of the aisle complaining that McCain getting elected is going to resort in Roe Vs Wade being turned back or (insert republican doomsday scenario here). It ain’t gonna happen. Politicians on both sides of the aisle take stances to appeal to their base, protected by the knowledge that the clash between liberal and conservative voters in this country is balanced enough (on most things) to keep everything nice and orderly.
And even IF, say, Obama gets elected and passes a federal ban on all firearms, it will make him enormously unpopular with southern and midwestern voters, they’ll kick him out of office in 4 years, and everything will go back to the way it was. Chill out.
[Editor --- If only it were that easy, John.
You're familiar with District of Columbia v. Heller, right? Well, for the last 33 years, the citizens of D.C. were not legally allowed to own handguns.
A fundamental right. Not allowed by a liberal governance.
And, if you'll recall, that unconstitutional law was only voted down by a 5-4 vote. Which mean that Obama's court appointees could very well change that vote and thus enable even more local and state governments to ban whatever weapons that decide.
And with Obama's very clear record of voting to restrict citizens' rights to own firearms (every single time Obama has voted on a gun issue, he has voted for more restrictions and bans), I'm not feeling as confident as you that gun ownership would be curtailed and in danger under an Obama administration.]
I;m Joe the Gun Owner. I’ve got 30 of them but I haven’t fired one in years. Don’t give me a reason too.
Take the guns away from the criminals, not me and others like me.
John,
I don’t think Obama is going to take my guns away.
But I do believe he will being to chip away around the edges of gun laws in order to make them harder to obtain and more expensive to own.
Don’t put it past these clowns to put a heavy tax on ammunition to pay for another stupid government program. Afterall, Democrats and Obama have never met a tax they didn’t want to increase to pay for some crappy program.
Wow I could agree to a certain extent, no one will take my guns from me still breathing.
