Had dinner with an old friend Friday night (fantastic sushi at Chinatown) and she told us an amusing story that happened to her husband (who is a white guy …. and yes, it’s relevant to the story) in Victoria, TX last week.
Her husband was waiting to pull into a front row parking spot in a busy mall parking lot. As soon as he parked and got out of his car, a black man had pulled him behind his car and rolled down his window and yelled at him:
Hey, whitebread…haven’t you heard? Barack Obama is President now. Chang is a coming. That’s my spot.
Great — after more than 200 years of always getting to park up front thanks to the incredible luck of being born white, I guess it’s time to finally let black folks have the good parking spots.
Sigh. I’m going to miss not having to get too wet when it’s raining and you have to sprint from your car to the grocery store.
And whitebread?
Really?
When’s the last time you heard that? Must of been an older black man. I’m not even sure if I would be insulted if someone called me “whitebread”…it is supposed to be an insult or derogatory, right?
Oh, and for the record — our friend’s husband didn’t give up his spot to the crotchety old black man. After all, Obama is only the President-elect. He’s not President yet, buddy.

Robbie, you can look for more of this to happen. The truely downside of Obama’s election is the attitude that is going to follow. For many, like the jerk screaming “white bread” it is payback time.
During the campaign, I campaigned for a Hispanic who was seeking a council seat. I asked two AA’s if they would consider voting for him, although my Hispanic friend is a Republican. I was told they would consider it and one told me “Hey, we can get along with the enemy”. Now, what the hell does that mean? That now, any American who is not the same color they are, are the “enemy”?
I do not think that although the nation is ready for a black President, they are reading for this black President. He is divisive, he will be expected to pander to certain groups, he will build resentment in the groups he ignores and the attitude of some will become over the top.
Michael Steele? Hell, yes? Thomas Sowell, Larry Elder, Ward Connerly? Hell yes. Barack Hussein Obama? Not no, but hell no.
You’re in Texas.
Maybe the man mistook your friend for Buck Burnette.
Or maybe he thought your friend was a Baylor alum.
You know, where they still break out the nooses when de blacks get too “uppity.”
Some folks have no sense of humor these days.
Chinatown looks like a great restaurant, but since when do Chinese restaurants serve great sushi?
Now that’s change that’s already come.
How rough it must have been for your friend to be called “whitebread” AFTER he had parked his car.
When you start getting lynched or enslaved for hundreds of years, then start whining.
Until then, get over it and your paranoid delusion nonsense.
