Calvin and Hobbes get why bailouts are stupid. Why can’t Congress?

The big three automakers and — more specifically — the UAW are acting exactly like the child in this comic strip.
And, again, a reminder to my Congress-critters — any vote from you for any bailout is a lost vote from me for any future elections.

Cartoonists know a bit about being sole proprietorships. If 50% of Americans were still self-employed, I don’t think we’d have 1/10 the crap we have coming out of congress over the last 40 years or so. And, as more and more people join the crowd at the gov’t teat, whether on welfare or gov’t jobs/makework projects, it’s only going to continue getting worse. People vote their pocketbook, and when your paycheck has a gov’t seal on it, it becomes less and less likely you’ll vote to abolish the department you work for or the program that pays you not to work. And now the fucktards in Washington want congress to hike gas taxes, because we stopped driving the prescribed number of miles when gas prices spiked and we aren’t providing them with enough gas tax money to build the bridges to nowhere and highways to BFE. How’s about congress join America in the real world, where a lot of us are having to cut back and save. Nahhh, that’ll never happen, they’re too busy suckin’ on that teat.
