This is the single most important thing to remember at to “Peace in the Middle East”:
It’s been said before but it is worth repeating a thousand times: if Hamas, Hezbollah, and most of the Arab states (and Iran) laid down their weapons tomorrow and forgot about their plans to dissolve Israel, there would be peace in the Middle East. The Israelis could forget about the fences and the Palestinians might one day have something approximating a Western standard of living. On the other hand, if Israel laid down its weapons tomorrow, the country would be utterly annihilated, the Israelis killed to the last man, woman, and child.
Any of you Hamas/Hezbollah apologist and Israel-hating losers want to try to refute this? Go ahead, I’ll wait.

Israel is a first-world nation on par with any European country. It has no oil and almost no natural resources. Her strength is her people.
Look at the rest of the region. Those countries have more natural resources than Israel, yet remain backward cesspools. This leads to unemployment and a much lower quality of life. They look to Israel and think something has been taken away from them, so they hate Israel. But let’s face it. If Israel didn’t exist, the area that is Israel would also be a stinking cesspool. It’s not the land, it’s the people who occupy the land.
This reminds me of the United States. As a white male I’ve been told my whole life it’s all my fault racial minorities hate me because I’m holding them back. Somehow because places like Atlanta, Detroit, Chicago, and Harlem have high unemployment, squalor, and are urban cesspools, it’s because white people aren’t doing enough. Perhaps if the residents of these areas pulled themselves up by their bootstraps things would be different.
There’s very little Israel or the United States can do for peace in the Middle East. What needs to happen is leaders in the other countries have to realize their destiny is in their own hands and create a society where people are fully employed and enjoy a high standard of living. But that’s hard, hating Israel is so much easier.
Israel disappearing tomorrow isn’t going to help anyone in the Middle East at all. Yet they act like they would suddenly be prosperous without Israel.
Israel must be one hell of a special little country, as there is no other nation that can attack a US Navy Vessel, kill 34 sailors, wound 167 AND have the full unwavering support of veterans. Israel’s murderous attack on the USS Liberty June 1967, included jamming distress frequencies, strafing life boats. Even though the the Liberty was hit midship with a torpedo, the ship wouldn’t sink.

The ONLY way for true peace in the Middle East is make it a parking lot. They have been fighting for thousands of years and they are NOT going to change any time soon.
Israel must be one hell of a special little country…
It is. It has been and still is one of our strongest allies. And there was nothing to gain by Israel attacking the USS Liberty. Our own government concluded it was a tragic mistake. The US has made similar mistakes. Israel has paid restitution to the families of the deceased. Trying to spin it into something sinister just ain’t gonna fly.
Bernie Madoff was framed…the Jews are really pissed now!
A tragic mistake? I’m no fighter pilot, but I think after the first straffing run, on egress I might have put eyeballs on a flag which is pretty unmistakable.
“Our government” concludes a lot of things, but those conclusions are often wrong, and lead to policy disasters. The Liberty inquiry satisfied no one who was close to the “tragic mistake” and most expressed the sentiments that a cover up was being perpetrated by USGov.

I think that removing Arabs/Muslims from Jewish land, would be my first option in the ME peace process.
You must realize, there is a very good reason why the ME is in such a state.
Here is that reason.
