Another sweet family pet Pit bull. Wouldn’t harm a fly.
Right up until the moment it bit a Harris County Deputy in the face.
The story from the Houston Chronicle is — as is typical of so much of the Chron’s reporting — void of much detail. Such as, is the officer OK? Did he shoot the dog dead (hope so)? Did he arrest the owners for harboring a dangerous animal (hope so)?

Here’s the story I think you’re talking about:

The story I found via Google said the deputy was bit by a Rottweiler, not a Pit Bull Terrier, though there was one in the yard. I think our experiences with Pits are different, judging by your post. I loved the one I had (half Pit Bull, half Lab). He was big, strong, and stupid. I took him all around town, he rode in the back of my truck without trying to jump out or bite people. At baseball games he was docile and just enjoyed laying in the sun.
I’ve been attacked by more Heelers than I have Pit Bulls. I think they, like any other breed of dog, can be bred mean or can be bred tame. That’s people’s fault, not the dog’s.
