Alpha Raider Marines in Iraq
The Marine Corps has been quick and eager to adapt the Crossfit into their day-to-day physical training program. Crossfit’s motto is “forging elite fitness”. The kind of fitness that allows you to carry 60-100 lbs of gear for days at a time in brutal heat and hostile environments. All with the ability, stamina, and strength to beat the hell out of the enemy.
Via Operation Phoenix, the Crossfit community is trying to give back to these guys over in Iraq and Afghanistan who are fighting for our freedom and safety by setting them up with world-class Crossfit equipment to help them stay operationally physically fit to vanquish their enemies.
Hopefully these Marines from the Raiders of Alpha Company, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) — or just Co. A, BLT 1/4, 11th MEU (SOC) for short — who are stationed at COP Reaper, Fallujah will be getting some updated equipment soon.
But from the looks of it, these Marines have been doing pretty damned good with the equipment that they have:
To whoever stenciled the cement barricade behind them, though: spelling kills, too.
Otherwise, Semper Fi, and thank God these guys are on our side.
_______
The Marine Raiders were elite units established by the United States Marine Corps during World War II to conduct amphibious light infantry warfare, particularly in landing in rubber boats and operating behind the lines.
