Yesterday we established that Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon (DEMCORAT) was The Worst Person in the World for allegedly stealing gift cards that were intended for poor families.

Today, let’s make the case for Chicago being The Worst City in the United States.

It was a close competition between Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, New Orleans, and Philadelphia (guess what all of these cities have in common? That’s right — they’ve all been run into the ground by dirty Democrat politicians and failed Democrat/Socialist policies).

But Chicago edged them all out. The city that was “led” by the likes of Barrack Obama (now President-elect), Rham Emmanuel (now Obama’s Chief of Staff), and Arne Duncan (now Obama’s Secretary of Education).

Or — more accurately — -the city was “run down” by those men and the rest of the Chicago machine that produced them.

Crime

It’s already been established that summer time in Chicago is more dangerous than war-time in Baghdad. Despite Democrats (illegally) banning guns the murder and violence rates are staggering.

Yesterday, five people were shot as they left a crowded high school basketball game at Paul Laurence Dunbar Vocational Career Academy — actress/singer Jennifer Hudson’s old school. Police think the attacks were “gang related”.

As Rachel Lucas points out:

Chicago has a violence problem because they have a culture problem – a culture that doesn’t value education, parenting, or personal responsibility. When you have generations of people raised without morals or values, you will have violence – with or without guns.

And lest you think that Chicago’s crimes are all relegated to black-on-black crime (the crime the media dare not speak of) — there are plenty of racially motivated hate crimes going on in Chicago, too.

Like the attacks and vandalism on Jewish synagogues in Chicago, to include a Molotov cocktail thrown at a Chicago synagogue. More of them just this weekend, as three synagogues were vandalized.

Chicago has a large and growing Muslim population — so the blacks are off-the-hook for these crimes. I think it’s pretty easy to figure out who’s spray painting “Death to Israel” on the synagogues.

Education

President-elect Obama has tapped Superintendent of Chicago schools Arne Duncan to be our nation’s Secretary of Education. Which should alarm everyone who has children they love and care about. Or anybody who doesn’t want to have to take care of other people’s illiterate children.

Under Duncan’s watch in 2007, only 17 percent of eighth graders tested at or above grade level in reading in Chicago Public Schools the school system administered by Arne Duncan since 2001.

Chicago has a history of high dropout rates, with around half of all students failing to graduate for the past 30 years.

Outstanding effort there Mr. Duncan.

Of course with the influence of unrepentant domestic terrorist Bill Ayers helping direct and lead Chicago’s educational transformation, what could possibly go wrong?

Corruption

This one doesn’t take much elaboration, does it?

Illinois’s last governor, George Ryan (R) is in prison for federal corruption convictions. Their current governor has been indicted for trying to sale the vacated seat of Sen. Barrack Obama.

Which is why I annoint the city of Chicago as The Worst City in the United States.

_______

UPDATE — much more on the Corruption angle over at Conservative Oasis, who takes a look at who’s running the state of Illinois down to the city of Chicago:

Let’s take a look at Illinois governmental bodies, from the top, all the way down to Chicago’s City level. Let’s do a comparison of Democrat vs. Republican seats.
State Senate

Democrats: 37 Republicans: 22

Nothing odd there. A little out of whack, but nothing jumps out at me.
State House

Democrats: 67 Republicans: 51

Hmmm. Ok. Looks a little like the rest of what has happened to the Republicans. Lagging behind, but nothing too out of the ordinary.
County Board, Cook County

Democrats: 12 Republicans: 5

Ouch. Looks like the Board of Chicago’s home County is a little tipped to one side. Hmmm…
Chicago City Council

50 members. 50 Democrats.

Huh? What? Not a single Republican in the most corrupt political city in the U.S.?
Do the Math?

What can one conclude from this? I don’t think it takes a genius to see the apparent problem. Chicago is run by corrupt people. All of them, Democrats.

Blagojevich rose to his power through Chicago. He previously represented Chicago in the U.S. Congress.

The presiding officer of the Chicago City Council is the Mayor, Mayor Richard M. Daley, Democrat. He is the son of Richard J. Daley, the notoriously corrupt former Mayor of Chicago who ruled it like a mob boss.

Democrats have dominated the office of Mayor in modern Chicago history; the last Republican mayor was William Hale Thompson who left office in 1931.

The Cook County board has far more Democrat members (by proportion) than any other County in Illinois. It is one of the most heavily Democrat leaning Counties in the United States.

Chicago is the largest city in America not to term limit its Mayor.

  1. Just FYI – Chicago is not actually the capital of Illinois. How do your arguments in the “corruption” section – which refer only to Illinois governors, who operate out of Springfield – have any bearing on Chicago as a city?

  2. Governors are like CEO’s of companies. No matter where the Governors operate out of they are responsible for the whole state including Chicago.

  3. Nobody gets elected Gov of Illinois without going through the Chicago Machine.

  4. “Just FYI – Chicago is not actually the capital of Illinois. How do your arguments in the “corruption” section – which refer only to Illinois governors, who operate out of Springfield – have any bearing on Chicago as a city?”

    That’s a brilliant observation. Applause.
State Capitols were made to be, years ago, geographical centers of the State, in order to attempt to make travel and accessibility “fair” for all.
Prior to that, the Capitol usually was the city that held the State’s pocketbook in its hands.

Guess what? You can change the “location” of said Capitol all you want… the actual “muscle” of the political machine remains where the industry, whether it be manufacturing, or financial, rests…

Put another way, most of the time, you don’t BECOME Governor of of ANY State without winning the strong county or counties of the financial or industry or business “capitol” of that State.

That- is how corruption in Chicago taints Governors who work in Springfield.

There are more good comments at the comments section of the article- http://conservativeoasis.com/the-corruption-of-chicago/2008/12/18/

  5. Seems last post would not take the quote from one of the commenters. I probably did something wrong…

So I am trying again, as it is very relevant:

“Rod Blagojevich’s Father-In-Law is Alderman Dick Mel, the most powerful member of the Chicago City Council.

Rod got elected with the help of his Father-In-Law then they fell out with each other. Several years ago, they stopped talking to each other when the Father-In-Law found out some of Blagojevich’s methods.

It seems that Blagojevich is corrupt even for Chicago Standards”

  6. “It seems that Blaojevich is corrpt even for Chicago Standards.”

Nope. Blago is just your typical “climb the Chicago political ladder” Illinois politician. As is the future resident of the Oval Office.

No one, and I do mean NO ONE, makes it in Illinois politics if they are not a player.

  7. I never had any desire to visit Chicago, but I did in 2007 and thought it was a nice city. Then again, we were in the museum district during nice weather. I’d imagine it’d be a hell hole to live in. Especially after getting mugged a few times.

  8. I will say, Chicago is a BEAUTIFUL city. Truly. And, the people are far nicer than you would ever imagine for #2 city of the US. AND, it is far safer than you would imagine. You will not be bothered. There is almost an eerily creepy “safety” one feels – as if they have beaten the crime into “control”

  9. You hit the nail on the head and one of the big reasons I recently moved from Chicago, after 16 years to Austin. Blago charges the people of Illinois for his private plane rides from Chicago to Springfield because his wife refused to move to Springfield when he got the job. Last I read it cost about $7000 per trip. (but don’t quote me I could be wrong)

Chicago is a great city (until it snows) with great people but very, very corrupt government. Once Obama is in office everyone will see what he is really worth – he did nothing for the state of Illinois while in DC and nothing for Chicago while in Springfield. So I do not have very high expectations.

I enjoyed living in Chicago for all of the 16 years – it is not a hell hole as stated by John. The people are nice, the city is easy to get around, there is fabulous culture and lots to do – just ignore the politicians….

  10. Other than the fact that taxes are about twice as high as everywhere else … and the fact that it’s cold as hell in the winter … and the fact that it has one of the highest crime rates per capita in the country … and it’s a sanctuary for illegal immigrants … and the politicians are corrupt … and you can’t even hold a gun for any reason without one of their stupid cards (unless of course you are a criminal) …

They have great food. The downtown is loaded with things to see and do. They have Lake Michigan with great boating and fishing.

In a nutshell, great place to visit (which I do often) but I wouldn’t want to live there.

  11. I grew up in Chicago. It was a hellhole. Left for college and never looked back. Now, I’ll admit that urban renewal has made the city much more livable. However, just because there are very livable parts of the city doesn’t mean that there are no longer neighborhoods where it is pure misery.

  12. I would not go as far as to call Chicago “beautiful.” Anyone who says that has not spent much time on the south, the west, or even the far north side of Chicago.
For one thing, it is gray and cold here much of the year. The river is officially “toxic.” Also too many thugs, corrupt politicians, and ugly personalities parading these streets.
It is nicer near the lakefront (in the summer) and there are some nice suburbs of Chicago too, but the overpopulation and severe cost of living and taxes make life very complicated here. As well as the staggering unemployment and homelessness.
There is good reason that if someone from Chicago gets famous or rich, they do not retire in Chicago. If you could choose anywhere to live, I doubt anyone would choose Chicago. In many ways, it’s like a cross between New York and Detroit, leaning decidedly towards Detroit.

  13. Got this email today, off topic a little but sort of fits. I have not fact checked this list, supposedly the top ten poverty cities…….hat tip to patty for the cut and paste.
Detroit, MI (1st on the poverty rate list) hasn’t
elected a Republican mayor since 1961
    Buffalo , NY (2nd) hasn’t elected a Republican mayor
    since 1954
Cincinnati, OH (3rd)…hasn’t elected a Republican
    mayor since 1984
Cleveland, OH (4th)…hasn’t elected a Republican mayor
    since 1989
Miami, FL (5th) has never had a Republican mayor
St. Louis, MO (6th)….hasn’t elected a Republican
    mayor since 1949
El Paso , TX (7th) has never had a Republican mayor
    Milwaukee , WI (8th)…hasn’t elected a Republican
    mayor since 1908
    Philadelphia , PA (9th)…hasn’t elected a Republican
    mayor since 1952
Newark , NJ (10th)…hasn’t elected a Republican mayor
    since 1907

  14. Chicago is actually not “the worst” but it’s one of the worst.

It has to do with many factors that essentially don’t have anything to do with politics.

It has to do with the type of people who decide to stay there. It attracts an almost “lust for mediocrity” and it also attracts people of very low intelligence.

The music scene is a good indication of a city. Chicago’s music scene is half-hearted, egocentric and lame as hell. Much like the people.

The god awful transportation system combined with too much strong weed being trucked in, combined with crappy traffic/parking, ripoff tickets, combined with a segregated black neighborhood, combined with wealthy idiots. Literally some of the DUMBEST wealthy people in the US live in Chicago.

There’s no ocean, or nature, a bunch of crappy forest preserves. The water is probably polluted with all kinds of crap. The winters are brutal and stupid.

But the main reason is that the people in power are idiots. It’s a town run by idiots, hiring more idiots, stacking the deck with idiots. The wrong people doing the wrong jobs. Cronyism pervades this town.

It could probably benefit from a stronger mafia, a more conservative political machine and a completely revamped transportation system, but essentially its problems can be traced all the way back to the Chicago Fire. It’s just a stupid town. And hard to get out of.

    Graham

  15. Chicago is a big city, and with big cities you get plenty of crime, bad politicians, and pollution. It is what it is. Chicago has its share of stupid people just as much as any city, “It attracts an almost “lust for mediocrity” and it also attracts people of very low intelligence.” That sounds like a statement from a person with very low intelligence, very ignorant, please stop generalizing. “There’s no ocean, or nature, a bunch of crappy forest preserves. The water is probably polluted with all kinds of crap. The winters are brutal and stupid.” There is a huge lake here, maybe you’ve heard of it LAKE MICHIGAN! Forest preserves are what all major large cities use to “preserve” nature… Do your research Chicago water is actually very clean in comparison to other large cities. Your last statement just sounds elementary. I’ve lived in Chicago all my life and truthfully I want to move but not because I don’t like Chicago, I just want to move to a quiet suburb because I’m just tired of city life.

  16. “Guess what? You can change the “location” of said Capitol all you want… the actual “muscle” of the political machine remains where the industry, whether it be manufacturing, or financial, rests…”

Precisely. In Washington the Dems rally Seattle-Tacoma-Everett to win the state. They have a power monopoly in those regions and most of the power is from that region.

I wonder how many more years of dem control will make our state as Corrupt and BANKRUPT as Illinois?

  17. Not only Chicago is the worst city, we have the worst boss ever. Deanna Salo! SHe’s the worst ever!!

  18. Uhhh yea I’d agree . . . it happened slowly over past 5-6 years. 2004 was the last glimmer of prosperity, sanity, order and sense – it’s hell now. WORST OF ALL THE WOMEN ! they have all settled for these hipster fraud tools! people have become desperate, rude, oppressed. its a fuckin nightmare. i’m moving to New York. it’s also a big city, but it’s 50% more intelligent.

  19. Yep, by far the worst city imaginable in the country.

highest gas prices, highest state taxes, worst public schools in the nation, ever increasing crime rates, guess don’t need to mention the corruption since thats pretty obvious with two ex govs currently rotting in the slammer.

Last week, I got a $200 ticket for being late for the first time in the entirety of my existence for not renewing my city sticker on time. And when you buy it online, you have to pay an additional $60 late fee. Can you say assrape? It’s pretty ridiculous that this type of evil is a regular thing in this fucked up city. The city is always designing new clever ways of making people want to get the fuck out of here. You would think they’d actually try to make it more enticing here for people to want to stay, considering the horrid winters are enough to keep any sane person FAR AWAY, but it just increasingly grows worse with no forecast of ever improvement. To the vampire-democrats who keep getting elected by the dumbshits that live here, the populace are merely monetary chattle to continuously bleed bone dry.

Most of the peeps who reside here are from some bumblefuck tinseltown not even on google maps, with delusions of eloquence and sophistry. The lame denizens look and resemble the walking dead than real human beings, and usually have some kind of purposelessly sarcastic remark they try to pass off as witticisms.

  20. And Chicago’s 2.8 million citizens have an unfunded pension liability of $28 billion for its government employees that they will try to foist off on the rest of the country, since Illinois itself already has about a $100 billion unfunded liability. And Chicago homeowners think they have equity in their homes? And they think their Public Enemy #1 is a drug lord…..

    • No, Chicago residents are not that stupid Bob. And, I am not sure that a municipal pension shortage can be “foisted off” on th rest of the country. Anyway – do you put into social security? If you do, let’s talk about the level of its funding. Scary, wouldn’t you say! I don’t put into social security and to be honest, am very glad because from where I seat, social security fund is much worst off than my county pension fund. From this perspective Bob, Chicago ain’t that bad afterall.

  21. I am so glad I moved from that awful place. The arrogance of some of the wealthy people is so twisted it makes you want to throw up. Many of the poor people enjoy being poor and are stuck in their ways. There are times when you’ll feel like you’re not in a city. It seems like a bunch of small racist towns lumped together. Many people say the whites are racist(which many are), but all of the people are closed minded. The people that are nice and easy to get along with are in the smaller percentage.
