Only criminals, tyrants and cowards have reason to fear the armed, honest citizen.

Legal concealed carry saves more innocent lives in Texas.

This time, at a liquor store in west Houston — where two armed men tried to rob Specs Liquor Warehouse. They ordered everyone in the store to get down on the floor. However, an off-duty Border Control agent pulled his gun and ordered the robber to put down his weapon…when the thug didn’t the agent instead shot and killed him.

The other would-be-robber fired shots at the agent from outside the door before fleeing.

Protecting the Second Amendment in Texas

This comes at a time when Texas lawmakers are getting ready to introduce bills that would make it easier for Texans to legally carry guns — one law would permit concealed carry on college campuses, which are currently gun free zones (to everybody except criminals who want to shoot up a campus). The other law would allow open carry in Texas.

I full support both laws, and will immediately start open carrying if/when it is passed.

If you believe that the second amendment provision that states “shall not infringe” means exactly that, then contact your state representative and tell them to support and vote for this measure.

  1. Alejandro Salinas was paying for his gas when the clerk warned him he’d seen several suspicious men outside. On his guard, Salinas walked to his truck, but before he could close the door, one of the men put a gun to his neck. “Get out of the truck. I’m going to take it and I’m going to kill you,” the suspect said, according to police. But Salinas executed a classic tactical move: In a fast, fluid motion, he pushed away his assailant’s gun while drawing his own 9 mm pistol and shooting the assailant twice. The wounded suspect fired once into the air as he fell to the ground. His accomplices grabbed him and took him to a hospital, where he died. Salinas has a concealed-carry permit. Dean Woodling was stopping by his father’s property when, according to police, he saw a robber loading a truck with stolen items. Woodling, who is a hunter, had a shotgun in the vehicle. “I jumped out with the shotgun as he was coming out of the barn,” Woodling explained. “To say he was scared was an understatement.” Woodling, who has a concealed-carry permit and likes to keep a firearm handy, held the suspect at gunpoint until police arrived. “The way the world is, it’s like American Express,” said Woodling. “I never leave home without it. Police cannot be everywhere all the time.” (Pocono Record, Stroudsburg, PA, 11/14/08)

A landlord was horrified when his tenant was victimized—raped by a convicted sex offender. In addition to repairing a damaged window and installing security devices, the landlord bought the tenant a shotgun. The latter move probably saved her life. Just a week later, as police prepared to file charges against the rapist, he returned to the scene of the crime. Likely angry his victim had gone to the authorities, the rapist cut the power to the house and crashed through the basement door. But the woman inside was not about to be a victim again. She fired her shotgun for the first time, killing her rapist. “I’m glad I had something to protect me,” the woman said. “When your life is in danger, you just do what you have to do.” (Southeast Missourian, Cape Girardeau, MO, 11/01/08)

    The debate is over!
Armed citizens prevent crime, not cause it.
I believe it is the duty of any responsible citizen to arm themselves.
If/when open carry becomes the law, I will proudly join in.
Then I will be able to accessorize properly for how I’m dressed. Some times your ensemble cries out for a stainless finished accessory, and some times a black finish.

  2. If you live, work, or go to school in Texas you need to sign the open carry petition at http://www.petitiononline.com/texasoc/petition.html

Can the owner of this blog please dsiplay this petition link prominently? Thanks!

  3. Robbie, check the spam filter. There was crap on the screen and I sent it to spam land, so you can decide if you want to restore it. Hint, it comes from near the slum Nine Mile in Detroit.

  4. Dang!
    This guy is amazing.
I’ve got one of the high-tech, fancy-smancy one’s, with the surgical tubing, but I can’t do anything like this guy.

  5. “25 States allow anyone to buy a gun, strap it on, and walk down the street with no permit of any kind: some say it’s crazy. However, 4 out of 5 US murders are committed in the other half of the country: so who is crazy?” — Andrew Ford

  6. Actually, 31 states allow open carry of loaded handguns without any permit in at least some public areas. Leaving off the three “rural only unlicensed open carry states” of CA, IL, and IA, that still leaves 28 states where open carry of loaded handguns is liberally allowed withotu any license.
