This is why we need more legally armed citizen and fewer “gun free zones” — especially the office place.
First of all — this is a bizarre story as a woman in Houston entered an office building with a bow and arrow (and two pistols), and then proceeded to shoot a man in the chest. With the bow and arrow.
That’s pretty bizarre.
But when she pulled out her gun and turned it on two other employees, here’s where the second amendment and good concealed weapons rules won the day:
After walking into the company’s micro-electronics division, Parker shot Silva with an arrow and then pointed the apparent gun at two other employees, police said.
Those employees, who are licensed to carry concealed handguns, fired “numerous” shots at Parker, hitting her several times, investigators said.
Good for them. My only question is what kind of puny hand guns were these guys carrying? They hit her numerous times and she was still able to run off and hide and then pull her bow on a cop.
Had they been packing something with some real stopping power — say a .45 ACP — that lady would never have moved beyond the spot where they hit her “several times.”
Anyway. Chalk up another victory for the second amendment.

Robbie, I have only a .25. Squirrels are the only thing scared of it. Doesn’t a .45 have such a kick as to knock ya down? Maybe that’s why they weren’t carrying anything really strong. I’m trying to buy a new “something,” just can’t figure out what it should be or where to get it! Explain and help please!
You could shoot a .45 just fine with a little practice. After that I would look at a .40 cal. Plenty of stopping power, and still conforms to the Marine Corps Rules of a Gun Fight: Never bring anything to a gun fight that does not start with at least a ’4′.
Pam, no the .45ACP doesn’t kick that bad. If you are in possession of a .25, my question is, why would you want to really piss-off someone who is already determined to attack you?
I know Robbie will answer, but let me ask, how much are you willing to spend; how much time are you willing to invest in training with a capable man-stopper?
How about some videos of the .45?
Skinny Asian girl.
Young boy.
A huge advantage of carrying a .45ACP, or a .38Special, is the round is subsonic. Besides being the best man stopper around, it won’t shatter your eardrums, if the criminal won’t allow you time to put your hearing protection on.
Almost forgot about the post, with Pam’s comment.
I saw a dash-cam video, years ago, of a man that was shot twelve times by California Highway Patrol, as he continued to threaten them with a gun in his hand. The CHP was using 9mm semis, and they never knocked him down. He went to one knee, twice, due to the pain and hemorrhaging, but got back up both times, and continued to point the gun at the officers. Finally, an officer arrived, and put one round in his head with a rifle. The .4 rule is inviolable, in my opinion. Even if you don’t kill the suspect, you want to end the fight as soon as possible, and knocking them down is the quickest way. A .45 is the best at it, in a serviceable weapon, with the .40S&W close behind.
But shooting someone with an arrow…that’s just weird. Thank God there were armed citizens in the office, to stop the attack.
I read some of the comments in the story, and some were hysterical.
WILL begin looking for something that starts with a 4!!! Thanks for the insight! Ah, it’s SO good to be back home in Texas…
Yeah, I was gonna say, anybody with average hand/arm strength can handle a .45, even a Officer’s model or Commander (Colt) with light frames and shorter barrel. I had a Colt Commender and a Walther PPK clone in .380ACP and the .380 beat my hand up much more than the .45. It’s a heavier gun and absorbs a lot of the recoil because of that mass. The Colt Gov’t model design is compact enough for easy concealed carry and very, very reliable. And, any of them made in the last 30 years or so will feed jacketed hollowpoints without the slightest trouble. When you add .45 cal to hollowpoint, you get awesome stopping power. But, even hardball performs well enough in the stopping power category.
I never bought into the “Wonder 9″ phenomenon. The 80s have a lot to answer for. If we needed to be compatible with NATO, it would have been better for us to o back to .308 rifle ammo and have them go to .45 sidearms. Good stopping power all-around.
Robbie, this was actually sent to me via email. I loved the message so I thought I would share. You may have seen this before.
‘Are we fighting a war on terror or aren’t we? Was it or was it not started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores on September 11, 2001
and have continually threatened to do so since?
Were people from all over the world, not brutally murdered that day, in downtown Manhattan, across the Potomac from the nation’s capitol and in
a field in Pennsylvania ?
Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or crushing death that day, or didn’t they?
And I’m supposed to care that a few Taliban were claiming to be tortured by a justice system of the nation they come from and are fighting
against in a brutal insurgency.
I’ll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11.
I’ll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere belief of which is a crime punishable by beheading in Afghanistan .
I’ll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for hacking off Nick Berg’s head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed throat.
I’ll care when the cowardly so-called ‘insurgents’ in Afghanistan come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques.
I’ll care when the mindless zealots who blows themselves up in search of nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide
bombs.
I’ll care when the media stops pretending that their freedom of speech on stories is more important than the lives of the soldiers on the ground or their families waiting at home to hear about them when something happens.
In the meantime, when I hear a story about an AMERICAN soldier roughing up an Insurgent terrorist to obtain information, know this:
I don’t care.
When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank:
I don’t care.
When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and ‘fed special’ food that is paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining
that his holy book is being ‘mishandled,’ you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts:
I don’t care.
And oh, by the way, I’ve noticed that sometimes it’s spelled ‘Koran’ and other times ‘Quran.’ Well, Jimmy Crack Corn you guessed it,
I don’t care!!
If you agree with this viewpoint, pass this on to all your E-mail friends Sooner or later, it’ll get to the people responsible for this ridiculous behaviour!
If you don’t agree, then by all means hit the delete button. Should you choose the latter, then please don’t complain when more atrocities committed by radical Muslims happen here in our great Country!
And may I add:
‘Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Soldiers don’t have that problem.’
I have another quote that I would like to add, AND…….I hope you forward all this.
One last thought for the day:
Only five defining forces have ever offered to die for you:
1. Jesus Christ
2. The Canadian Soldier.
3. The British Soldier.
4. The US Soldier, and
5. The Australian Soldier
One died for your soul, the other 4 for your freedom.
