I’m not sure if this Reid’s Dry Cleaners commercial is airing anywhere other than Austin — but there is a long tradition of using Austin singers to sing commercial jingles for local companies.

Reid’s latest ad is actually kind of catchy (in a super-cheesy kinda way)…but I couldn’t place the girl singing the “Take Me to Reid’s” jingle:

Her name is Erin Ivey and she’s Austin’s underground mistress of downtempo folk pop. I think she plays a weekly happy hour gig at The Hideout downtown.

She also has a nice online presence — from her Twitter feed to her own personal blog (where she broke the news to her fans that she had “sold out” to become a jingle singer).

Anywho — I’m a big fan of the Austin singer-song writer/folk genre, so I’ll probably check her out sometime.
