Obama is Not Heroic

And this is why we can’t get all get along; because some of you say and believe stupid shit like this:

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Americans named President Obama as their No. 1 hero, followed by Jesus Christ and Martin Luther King, in a new Harris poll.

Others in the top 10, in descending order, were Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush, Abraham Lincoln, John McCain, John F. Kennedy, Chesley Sullenberger and Mother Teresa.

-It’s hard to believe that only half the population is dumber than average. But they’re the ones who likely voted for Obama as their “greatest hero”…beating out Jesus and MLK

Sully is the only person on that list that I might put in the Hero category. Though he wouldn’t put himself in it.

I can’t think of a single heroic thing that Mr. Obama has ever done.

My definition of hero must be vastly different from that of the dolts who think Obama is “heroic”. My list would be filled with nothing but police officers, firemen, and members of our military.

Men like:

That these men’s names are not household names is the real shame. There is talk of a “national holiday” to celebrate Obama’s birthday (WTF?). There is already one to honor these brave men: we call it Memorial day.

Some Most men run from danger, others run towards it. These men are the later.

  1. From October 2003 until May 2005, I was illegally detained by the U.S. government and held in CIA-run “black sites” with no contact with the outside world. On May 5, 2005, without explanation, my American captors removed me from my cell and cuffed, hooded, and bundled me onto a plane that delivered me to Sana’a, Yemen. I was transferred into the custody of my own government, which held me — apparently at the behest of the United States — until March 27, 2006, when I was finally released, never once having faced any terrorism-related charges. Since my release, the U.S. government has never explained why I was detained and has blocked all attempts to find out more about my detention. . . .

What I do know is that the Jordanian government — after torturing me for several days — handed me over to a U.S. “rendition team” in Amman, which then abducted me, forced me onto a plane, and flew me to Afghanistan. During this, and several other transfers between CIA prisons, I was subjected to a brutal and deeply humiliating “preparation” ritual. I was stripped naked, dressed in a diaper, shackled, blindfolded and hooded, and then boarded onto a waiting plane. I was forced into painful positions, often reeling from the blows and kicks of the men who had “prepared” me for flight.

During my detention, I agonized constantly about my family back in Yemen, knowing they had no idea where I was. They never once received information about who had taken me, why I was taken, or even whether I was alive. They were never contacted by the U.S. government or the International Committee of the Red Cross. . . .

I believe that acknowledgment is the first step toward accounting for a wrongdoing. The American public needs to face what has happened to those of us who were disappeared and mistreated in the name of their national security, demand accountability for those who committed torture and other crimes, and acknowledge the suffering of those who became victims.

  2. Why should we acknowledge something we have no way of knowing is true or that may not be illegal?

  3. Just say no to thread-hijacking.

Given that the original story came from the Chicago Sun-Times, the surprise is not that B. Hussein O. is at the top of the list, but that G. Walker B. is on the list.

January 20, 2013 can’t get here soon enough.

  4. Why should we acknowledge as wrong something we do not know is true or that may not be illegal? Morally, I have no problems with your treatment. Complain to AQ and your own terrorist loving government. Personally, after 9/11 and the USS Cole, I think you have a lot of nerve spamming this blog.

  6. Welcome to the Age of Obama where dissent is not tolerated.

Man has “Abort Obama Not the Unborn” sign in his car window. He’s pulled over, the sign confiscated, and his house searched by the feds.

Fuck you, Obama! Fuck you, fascist democrats!

  12. Grrrrr … I hate thread highjackers!

Robbie…I will see you your six heroes and raise ya with one of my own.

    Colonel Hank Potter

I met Colonel Potter at a fundraiser dance for the CAF in San Marcos. He was a very gracious gentlemen who took time to visit with my wife and I. The next year at the same fundraiser, we got to visit some more and he signed a photograph of a B-25 that I had taken. I still have that photo on my wall.

I do have another group of heroes out there: any man, woman or child who is battling and surviving cancer.

They have my utmost respect and compassion!

  13. Obama Flunks First Tests On Foreign Policy.

The Biden prophecy has come to pass. Our wacky veep, momentarily inspired, had predicted last October that “it will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama.”

Biden probably had in mind an eve-of-the-apocalypse drama like the Cuban Missile Crisis. Instead, Obama’s challenges have come in smaller bites. Some are deliberate threats to U.S. interests, others mere probes to ascertain whether the new president has any spine.

    Preliminary X-rays aren’t encouraging.

No, the search for his spine isn’t encouraging, and they have yet to do an MRI in search of a brain for the newbie, unqualified President.

    Also, Why Nurture Russia’s Illusions?

Ultimately it’s up to the Russians to decide to be friends. One day, someone in the Kremlin will have to confront a hard choice: Does an isolated and dysfunctional Russia want to modernize and join up with the West, look toward China, or continue its slow decline? Until then, Mr. Obama better stock up on aspirin and dampen his and our expectations about Russia.

    Ruck Fussia!
