The Biden prophecy has come to pass. Our wacky veep, momentarily inspired, had predicted last October that “it will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama.”

Biden probably had in mind an eve-of-the-apocalypse drama like the Cuban Missile Crisis. Instead, Obama’s challenges have come in smaller bites. Some are deliberate threats to U.S. interests, others mere probes to ascertain whether the new president has any spine.

Preliminary X-rays aren’t encouraging.

No, the search for his spine isn’t encouraging, and they have yet to do an MRI in search of a brain for the newbie, unqualified President.

Ultimately it’s up to the Russians to decide to be friends. One day, someone in the Kremlin will have to confront a hard choice: Does an isolated and dysfunctional Russia want to modernize and join up with the West, look toward China, or continue its slow decline? Until then, Mr. Obama better stock up on aspirin and dampen his and our expectations about Russia.

Colonel Hank Potter

I met Colonel Potter at a fundraiser dance for the CAF in San Marcos. He was a very gracious gentlemen who took time to visit with my wife and I. The next year at the same fundraiser, we got to visit some more and he signed a photograph of a B-25 that I had taken. I still have that photo on my wall.

I do have another group of heroes out there: any man, woman or child who is battling and surviving cancer.

They have my utmost respect and compassion!
