- @DavidGuenthner I prefer the Sonic chili cheese tots as greatest fast food side ever. in reply to DavidGuenthner #
- Are we the only people not watching “The Grammys”? We’re watching “Mermaid Girl” on The Learning Channel. Extremely sad story. #
- RT @marinemajor: “grammys? what’s that?” Exactly. Though I think it’s an exercise where “artists” tell each other how great they all are. #
- Not watching Grammies…cause my gag reflex isn’t quite that strong. But I’ll cast my vote as “Fan of Neil Diamond”. #
- @michellemalkin Sounds like you caught the good part of the grammys. all downhill after pregnant rappers in reply to michellemalkin #

Robbie, was watching Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives last night, and it was a BBQ double feature.
They visited one place in Austin, Green Mesquite, and based on what I saw going on in the kitchen, looks like a place to visit. Not a purists type of pit BBQ, but fresh and well seasoned food, with a varied menu.
The other place was in Atkins, east of San Antonio, called Texas Pride BBQ. It is a purists type of BBQ, with a very simple rub, and the beans they serve, all I can say is, the way they season them when cooking, they could be a meal by themselves. They carmelize the onions in bacon fat, before they add the seasoning, then the beans.
All I have around here is the original Sonny Bryan’s, and a butt-load of franchised chains.
We eat at Green Mesquite from time-to-time. Not because of the quality of the BBQ though. Simply because it’s near the dog park where we take our mutts, and they have a fantastic dog-friendly outdoor seating area — and the staff always brings out extra rib bones for our dogs to enjoy.
The brisket is terrible, at best. Dry and un-flavorful are how I’d describe it. Some of their non-BBQ dishes are quite good though. My wife loves their fired okra and swears they have the best peach cobbler in Austin.
Their pork looked good, and so did their CFS…double-battered.
