Another legally armed citizen, another dead criminal. Karma was definitely not on this guy’s side:

A man allegedly attempting to rob a northwest Harris County cell phone store died Saturday night after he was shot by the business owner and then hit by a car as he attempted to flee, authorities said.

Deputies answered a call around 6:15 p.m. at a cell phone store in the 5200 block of Barker Cypress, where they learned that two armed men dressed in black entered the store and allegedly attempted to rob it, said Harris County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. John Legg.

The store owner produced his own handgun and the alleged robbers fled the business, Legg said.

As the men ran into the parking lot, the store owner chased them. One of the men fled the scene in a 90s model red Ford Taurus, while the other man stopped and turned toward the store owner, Legg said.

“At that time, the owner of the store fired several shots towards the suspect, hitting him once,” Legg said.

However, the alleged robber continued to run through the parking lot and attempted to run across Barker Cypress, where he was hit by a car, Legg said.

The beauty of the Texas Castle law is that you no longer have to flee or retreat when someone threatens you or your property.

And just because they turn their back on you and flee once they see they are out-armed doesn’t mean you can’t still shoot them in the back as the coward runs.

When will would-be robbers and thugs learn that they’d be better off moving to Chicago or San Fransisco to pursue a life of crime than here in heavily-armed Texas?

  1. As the song says: “Another one bits the dust.”

  2. An analogy would be, a bank shot of the eight ball in the corner pocket.

Who can say how many crimes are prevented by an action like this from an armed citizen? There is a reason criminals like this don’t work at the Johnson Space Center, but they do get the word when one of their homies gets whacked.
All hail the armed citizen, the original homeland security.

    I love a happy ending.

  4. Ya’ll read the comments section of this story on the Chron? Not too supportive of the Criminal Bill of Rights these days it seems…..

  5. The way I see it is simple. I rather be reading about an armed citizen legally keeping and using a firearm to kill a scumbag, then reading about said scumbag getting a stay of execution because of some leftest Judge. Long live the 2nd amendment!!!!
